This was a good story - grandmother, mother, daughter coming to terms with past and present - the mothers “secret“ was not what I thought it would be - theme of forgiveness (of each other and ones self) -

My new habit is thinking before speaking......does it have to be said, does it have to be said by me, does it have to be said now.
Being more mindful of my words😊

2. Haven Point - I really enjoyed this family saga!
3. Ruth Galloway MC from Elly Griffiths series. Sometimes she puts herself in needless danger too often.
4. My family. I‘m looking forward to my grandson‘s soccer game on Saturday.

Over seven decades of a changing America, through wars and storms, betrayals and reconciliations, Virginia Hume's Haven Point explores what it means to belong to a place, and to a family, which holds as tightly to its traditions as it does its secrets. I love family sagas. This one starts in 1944 when Maren Larsen is a cadet nurse at Walter Reed Army Hospital and she meets Dr. Oliver Demarest whose family spends their summers at Haven Point, Maine
The story takes place over multiple timelines and culminates to a most satisfying ending. There are a lot of dark secrets, that the author expertly peels away the layers of each one. If you like family dramas, put this one high on you TBR list.
Review is up on my blog. Check it out!

HAVEN POINT by Virginia Hume
Maren is a cadet nurse at Walter Reed Hospital. A girl from a farm in Minnesota. Just your average farm girl who wanted to make a difference. Maren is a very likable character. You will see her grow and become a strong force. Also a very caring and loving nurse. When she meets Dr Oliver Demarest her life is never the same. They are from different worlds but seem to compliment each other.
I enjoyed this debut about a family and their summer home on the coast of Maine. It‘s told through alternating chapters featuring Maren and Skye (grandmother/granddaughter). Spanning WWII, the Vietnam War and up to 2008, it speaks to how place/community memories shape us, how differently family members view these places at various times in their lives and how we sometimes focus on the negative in our families rather than the entire picture...🔻
