pickThis is a well-written fiction character study of Martha Jefferson Randolph. I couldn't breeze thru it like I often do with fiction stories.
While her marriage and motherhood were interesting, I was intrigued by Martha's conflicted views on slavery. She spent her life against slavery yet she owned slaves.
I was also interested in Thomas J's involvement with Sally Hemings and Martha's feelings on this. (I'd love to know more about Hemings.)

Dottie might not be excited to read Monticello tonight, but I've just started this novel that chronicles the life of Thomas Jefferson's oldest daughter, Martha, and I'm loving it.
