My husband is reading aloud from the book and we just had a discussion about why can Harry hear what the basilisk is saying and his friends don't even hear hissing? Sure he can understand it because of the parseltongue, but shouldn't others hear a hissing?

A slow month for me (but upcoming vacation should change that). 2 print and 1 audiobook. The Secret Life of Anna Blanc won hands down, that audio was awesome and review is coming soon.

Started this audiobook last night. The narration started out as a struggle for me, it felt computerized, but as the actual book began it has improved some.

My January status update: 5 books finished, 1 Audio and 4 Print. The Dear America was sitting half read on my bedside for a year. Favorite book was The Beauty Shop but The Worthington Wife was quite good too as was The Saxon Outlaw‘s Revenge actually.

This arrived unexpectedly...and traveled all over the place because it went to wrong address after wrong address before I eventually got it. Hope it's worth the trouble!

Reading a little old school YA today and loved this quote. Sure most book lovers can relate to this at some point in their lives!

December summary - 2 audiobooks, 3 print books. The German Girl is my top reads for the month and an excellent audio production. Bring on 2017!

Guys, I picked up this book this afternoon, have read thru the whole thing, and want to make and eat everything in it! The food looks so accessible and amazing and I love the personality she puts into the commentary in the book. Awesome!

Starting to listen to something very different from what I have been. I love S.C. Gwynne.

The beginning dragged, the middle was somewhat better, but then I just wanted to be done with it. That about sums up my experience with Amy Snow. it was relatively boring and the revelation that you are heading toward the whole time is no surprise at all to either the reader or the heroine.

Trying to get back into this one, but I'm struggling with everything!

Not a sentence I would expect in any novel but Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

This novel of a Jewish family's flight from Germany during the early days of WWII was told through a dual narrative that began in the 1930s and proceeded to the present but also from 2014 from the perspective of a young relative. I don't think the 2014 storyline was necessary, and I actually wasn't interested in Anna's story at all. Overall though this was excellently done!

My listening choices today - finished up the audio of The German Girl (excellent novel) and starting Amy Snow again.

A little late, but still worth the mention. 5 books finished in November: 2 audio, 3 print. Behind Closed Doors wins the month with the creepy, twisted story that kept me riveted. To Capture What We Cannot Keep was ultimately my dissappointment.

On the first day we have snow what else to do but read Harry Potter in front of a fire with hot chocolate featuring a little something extra!!

On my day off I'm catching up on my audio book, making ham bone broth for my dad's split pea soup, and finishing the last of the unpacking.

This was me during my husband's reading of the scene where Ron receives his howler! lol. He so enjoys reenacting these scenes.

This is getting intensely creepy!

October reading summary: 4 books completed, 2 audio and 2 print. While I enjoyed the twisted nature of The Girl on the Train, A Song of War wins for the best read of the month. The Light Between Oceans was disappointing for me.

And I sit here struggling to remember what adverbs are! lol.

Getting a little witchy on this Halloween night with a little more reading from Harry Potter. #readingaloud

I really enjoyed the first half of the book taking place on the island with the lighthouse, but I lost interest once it came back to the mainland and it dragged on. The audio narration was excellent even if the story was just so-so.

I've still got over 4 hours to go on this. Excellent narration and the story is pretty good but soooo slow.

Just added this to my asap audio wish list. I've had it highly recommended to me by a friend! Also it is on a list of books similar to Girl on the Train. Can't wait for my next credits in 10 days...

Went and saw the movie yesterday, it was OK. Followed the plot of the book pretty faithfully, with omissions of course, but the energy and emotion felt wrong. I missed the frantic feel from Rachel as she tries to figure out what happened and the alcohol haze she lives in.

This was quite the fast-paced, twisty, thrill ride. All of these characters are very flawed and refreshing. The audio narration was excellently produced. Highly recommended. Now to keep from spoiling it for my husband! #frompagetoscreen

Wow, the people in this book all have some messed up lives and so very flawed! Which is sort of refreshing!

My husband wants to see this in theaters so he told me that if I want to read this before the movie I had better get moving! So audiobook marathon it is!

September reads! Finished 4 this month which is saying a lot considering we were moving this week and it was the end of the fiscal year at my job so there wasn't much down time.

Struggled through all my boxes of books still packed from the move to find this gem that I've been dying to read. (Look at those beautiful floors too!)

I don't typically read contemporary romance novels but I LOVED this book. Yes there was a romance, and it was a significant element of the overall story, but it was so much more than that. I appreciated the non-linear storyline which allowed you to learn things at the most emotional moments. And the setting of Antarctica came to vivid life. #mustread
