The Accomplice: A Novel | Lisa Lutz
19 posts | 23 read | 9 to read
Everyone has the same questions about best friends Owen and Luna: What binds them together so tightly? Why werent they ever a couple? And why do people around them keep turning up dead? In this riveting novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Passenger, every answer raises a new, more chilling question. Owen Mann is charming, privileged, and chronically dissatisfied. Luna Grey is secretive, cautious, and pragmatic. Despite their differences, they begin forming a bond the moment they meet in college. Their names soon become indivisibleOwen and Luna, Luna and Owenand stay that way even after an unexplained death rocks their social circle. Years later, theyre still best friends when Luna finds Owens wife brutally murdered. The police investigation sheds some light on long-hidden secrets, but it cant penetrate the wall of mystery that surrounds Owen. To get to the heart of what happened and why, Luna has to dig up the one secret shes spent her whole life burying. The Accomplice examines the bonds of shared history, what it costs to break them, and what happens when you start wondering if you ever truly knew the only person who truly knows you.

I really enjoyed this book even more than I thought I would. It wasn‘t super suspenseful, but I was sucked in from the very first page. I loved the relationship shops that were built and then the mystery of the whole story. So many mysteries to solve and none of them were what I expected. I highly recommend this one even though it isn‘t super action packed.

Owen & Luna have been BFFs for many years & two women Owen have a romantic relationship with die. The secrets between Owen & Luna weren‘t what I thought they would be. The story starts off slow & I almost bailed. I‘m glad I finished but definitely not my favorite Lisa Lutz.

Not really sure what to say about this book. There are two murders fifteen years apart involving the same circle of friends. The two main characters have one weird relationship over all these years. And I found the investigating cops to be the most interesting people in the book. It did keep me reading to the end, but on the whole we‘ve got a group of characters I‘d never want to meet in real life.

2 bingos in April. A few books I just couldn‘t get into and several I enjoyed. Definitely my worst reading month in a long time.
On to May.

Luna and Owen have been best friends since college; always there for each other NO MATTER WHAT. They keep each other's secrets and are closer to each other than even their spouses. It's a beautiful, if codependent, friendship. But people seem to die around them. Are either of them at fault? It is an interesting, tense tale and I enjoyed reading a book about M/F friendship that doesn't turn to romance.

A big MEH for me. Started out so good and then wrapped up a bit to neatly for me. The reveal was a letdown to me 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hi everyone. Stay warm! I am in Fla so our equivalent is 30 degree weather but considering most of you are in for it this weekend I‘ll keep the whining to myself.

If you can make it to a bookstore pick up a copy of this book. Very entertaining read. I am half-way thru. I know I do this a lot- post a review when I am not done but like the rest of you I usually know a good book from a mediocre before I am finished

Stay safe

Celebrating my beloved 49ers' win last night! The @packers are eliminated from the @nfl playoffs and the #49ers will play the winner of the Rams - Buccaneers game. ⁣I'm watching that game right now.

Lisa Lutz is one of my very favorite authors, so I was beyond thrilled to get my hands on an early copy directly from the publisher! Engaging from the start, the key relationship here is between Owen and Luna. Best friends since college, their bond is unshakable- even when those around them turn up dead. Moments of levity breaks up the tangle of murder and secrets. I couldn‘t put it down- and can‘t wait for more from Lutz in the future!

I'm a fan of Lisa Lutz, especially her Spellman Files series. This is a light pick for me. It's a thriller about two best friends who keep ending up suspects in murders. It's a quick, easy read, with a few twists and nothing too dark or gritty. I found some of the interactions between characters to be unbelievable.

I enjoyed this twisty novel by Lisa Lutz, but liked her earlier novels better. #ARC

This is a pretty straightforward mystery except it's Lisa Lutz so parts of it are quite amusing. There is also something pretty dark about it. I'm not sure how she manages to combine all of these things so successfully. It's good. I definitely recommend it.

Blew through this ARC from NetGalley. It was intriguing and there are multiple mysteries to untangle. I didn‘t see most of the plot twists. The characters are interesting…not always totally likable but flawed in ways that make them seem real. That said, the characters needed more development, and the minor cop development was pointless. I enjoyed it overall. I truly enjoyed reading from our new hot tub! Will enjoy it during MI fall and winter 🥰

This is an unsettling read by an author I love! Two murders years apart involving best friends Owen and Luna (friends since college). Both have moved on but what secrets lie beneath the surface?
Thanks to #NetGalley for this ARC!

Addison_Reads I'm a huge Lisa Lutz fan too. I'm excited to read this one. 3y
