Part 1 had me questioning why I was reading a retelling of JA‘s life. Part 2 had me smiling and laughing out loud with the shenanigans ensuing over JA acclimatizing to the 21st century and the brother and sister who befriend her when she time travels. Part 3 had me bawling my eyes out at the absolute heartbreak of this book. Moral of this story? NEVER doubt a Jane Austen story

I don‘t know if it‘s the same cold reinventing itself or a new one thanks to all the sick people at school but the bright side of it all is I have no where to be and 100‘s of books to read. This first part of this book seriously had me questioning my impulse library hold - but I am HOOKED now and laughing and smiling and loving this Austen time traveling tale

dabbe Hope you feel better soon. ❤️💜🩷 1mo
mcctrish @dabbe I think I‘m on the mend but I‘m going to keep quiet about that so I can just keep reading 🤫 1mo
Tamra Yay, except for the cold! 1mo

mcctrish @Tamra once again I‘m wishing I had bought the library book because I love it ( I am mental with my desire to own all the books) 1mo
Tamra @mcctrish I hate that too! 1mo

#NovelNovember @Andrew65

Interesting, yet very slow debut novel. The ending is pretty predictable.

BookNAround Sorry you didn‘t like this one better. It was predictable in the end but I enjoyed getting there anyway. 😁 1y
Andrew65 Well done 👏👏👏 1y
julesG @BookNAround I think I could have either done with all the Sophia story, or this should have been expanded more. 1y

Well that didn't happen. Can't believe this book has been taking up space on my Shelves for 2 years. At least I can get it off my #AusteninAugust TBR. See my previous post for Rant on 1st Editions.

I don't consider myself a Austen purist. You can modernize, add Vampires, make it Steampunk as long as you keep the Spirit of Jane Austen. This is not the Spirit of Jane. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig There no Historical basis for Jane having to being miserable to write. Or that she regretted not being a wife and mother.⬇️ 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig "She imagined having one of her own, and the child gorgeously sucking Jane dry. She would feed it, wake when it woke, and feel pride in being the only one able to soothe it. This pride would hypnotize her and occupy her time. The little life would swallow up everything, murdering the whim to nurture anything but itself."⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig As Childfree by Choice Woman I resent this book implying that you're selfish and you'll be unhappy if you choose not to have children. 2y

Crinoline_Laphroaig It's not the worst Austenesque I've ever read that honor goes to. 2y
CaramelLunacy @Crinoline_Laphroaig oof, that quote has me NOPE-ing right out of that 2y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @CaramelLunacy it made me cringe. 2y

#Pemberlittens ?‼️

If you're going to write Austenesque you should know that original novels were not written in one book. Pride & Prejudice was 3 Volumes.

“The producer gave them to me as a gift when I signed on to do the film. I‘d prefer jewelry, but never mind. These are nice. First editions, I believe.”

A momentary silence filled the house as Jane stopped breathing. She stared at the six books that now lay on the table."

Crinoline_Laphroaig Such a dumb mistake. It didn't serve any purpose for the books to be First Editions. Cheap paperbacks would have worked to get the point across to Time Traveling Jane that she was a published author. 2y

Time travelling Jane Austen to hit our screens soon! I think she‘ll cope admirably with social distancing, lockdowns and general world chaos! Or she may well want to go straight back to 1803!

My #jolabokaflod swap box finally arrived today! Thank you to Erin! I loved getting this book as it was on my TBR wish list since it came out and the little book filled with hot chocolate packs and chocolates was perfect! Thank you to @BookishMarginalia for organizing this swap.

Crinoline_Laphroaig I just got Jane in Love. Thinking I'll read for Valentine's Day! 3y

If you‘re an Austen purist you may want to avoid this one. But if you love all things Jane Austen like I do this is a sweet read. @sprainedbrain don‘t know if you‘ve read this one or not.

sprainedbrain I have not, but it‘s on my list! ❤️ 3y
