Interesting, yet very slow debut novel. The ending is pretty predictable.

Well that didn't happen. Can't believe this book has been taking up space on my Shelves for 2 years. At least I can get it off my #AusteninAugust TBR. See my previous post for Rant on 1st Editions.
I don't consider myself a Austen purist. You can modernize, add Vampires, make it Steampunk as long as you keep the Spirit of Jane Austen. This is not the Spirit of Jane. ⬇️

If you're going to write Austenesque you should know that original novels were not written in one book. Pride & Prejudice was 3 Volumes.
“The producer gave them to me as a gift when I signed on to do the film. I‘d prefer jewelry, but never mind. These are nice. First editions, I believe.”
A momentary silence filled the house as Jane stopped breathing. She stared at the six books that now lay on the table."
Time travelling Jane Austen to hit our screens soon! I think she‘ll cope admirably with social distancing, lockdowns and general world chaos! Or she may well want to go straight back to 1803!

My #jolabokaflod swap box finally arrived today! Thank you to Erin! I loved getting this book as it was on my TBR wish list since it came out and the little book filled with hot chocolate packs and chocolates was perfect! Thank you to @BookishMarginalia for organizing this swap.
If you‘re an Austen purist you may want to avoid this one. But if you love all things Jane Austen like I do this is a sweet read. @sprainedbrain don‘t know if you‘ve read this one or not.
