A fascinating look at the life and career of Tony Fauci. The #audibleoriginal #audiobook discussed his interactions with Act Up during the AIDS crisis and how that changed his look at clinical trials. His experience was then tested with many smaller pandemics through the 90s and 00s like Swine Flu, all while he predicted a much larger one. The book ended on the role he‘s played in Covid and his interactions with the president. #bookspinbingo

Cinfhen Hi!!!! Thinking of you ❤️ 4y

SamAnne I reread And the Band Played On this year and it was interesting to read about Fauci in that book. And then when Act Up founder Larry Kramer passed away earlier this year, Fauci was quoted in several stories. While Larry castigated Fauci for some of his policies during the AIDS crisis, they became friends who respected each other later in life. 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen hey friend!! Hope you‘re having a good day!! 4y
Megabooks @JenReadsAlot it‘s available to audible plus members now! (edited) 4y
Megabooks @Book_Fiend_Melissa better. Symptoms go up and down but I‘m getting better, and I‘m very thankful! 4y
Megabooks @SamAnne yes!! I read ATBPO in 2017 for the first time. Such a great book! Since this was an audible original, it was hybrid audiobook-podcast style, and there was audio of Kramer castigating Fauci, and both men reflected on their relationship (since they were both interviewed in the book, Kramer before he died). And then there was the circus of today... But Fauci‘ involvement and lessons from the AIDS crisis were 2 chaps in a 7-chap book. (edited) 4y
Megabooks @SamAnne also, this book is significantly shorter at 3 hours as opposed to the 31 of Band. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Great progress!! 4y
Megabooks @TheAromaofBooks pretty good considering my attention span is shorter! Thank you!! 💙 (edited) 4y
TheAromaofBooks Hopefully you stay on the road to recovery!!! 4y
Bookwormjillk I'm glad you're feeling better and amazed that there's a book on COVID already! 4y
SamAnne @Megabooks oh I will definitely check this one out. 4y
Megabooks @TheAromaofBooks thank you! So far only minimal bumps! 🙏🏻👍🏻 (edited) 4y
Megabooks @Bookwormjillk right?!? This author had been covering Fauci in some way or another for the Washington Post since the 80s, so he already had a lot of material. 4y
Megabooks @SamAnne I hope you enjoy it! 4y
KVanRead So glad to hear you‘re improving!!💐 4y
Megabooks @KVanRead thanks Kristine! 💜 4y

Current mood, Dr. Fauci edition.

Anyone wearing a bookish mask? Where‘d you get it? Out of Print has some and I feel like masks are hanging out for awhile.

Scochrane26 I have a cute Harry Potter mask that my mom made me. 4y
Clare-Dragonfly A friend of mine made me one with Harry Potter characters on it. 4y
Jas16 I just broke down and ordered a couple of the out of print ones. 4y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Litographs also has bookish facemasks. 4y

Is it just me or is anyone else comforted by the fact that even top scientists like Fauci who are probably way richer than me also have stacks of books around their house? 😂

SamAnne And I love that he hasn‘t cleaned it up or spent time “curating” it for his Zoom meetings. 4y
Karkar @SamAnne I agree! 4y
Megabooks Yes!! 4y

Sorry for the bad shot, Anthony Fauci is testifying before the senate remotely today (modified self quarantine) but what I noticed... These are the shelves of a REAL Reader, look at that stack on the floor, none of those perfectly polished shelves for him! Yes, I notice the shelves...always!

That-Bookish-Hiker I always noticed bookshelves too and when I see all these bare spaces on them I think “why do you have so much space? Where are all the books!?” Lol 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @That-Bookish-Hiker Those are the decorative shelfers, space for vases and artwork and photos....I have all that too, but in front of MORE BOOKS, I don‘t leave the space behind them empty.🤗😂 4y
vivastory I feel like what bookshelves say about a public figure is an article that demands to be written. I've been greatly enjoying the unfolding drama of the Thornbirds in Meyers' A Closer Look 😆 4y

Julsmarshall I noticed that too! You can tell he is a reader! 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @vivastory There is a twitter page that comments on them too, so we‘re not alone! 4y
Lizpixie Which twitter page would that be @Riveted_Reader_Melissa ??? 4y
JamieArc Have you heard about the twitter account that talks about public figure‘s shelves? I‘m not on twitter but am tempted to join just to follow it! 4y
JamieArc Oh whoop! Ha! You already mentioned it! Haha. 4y
JamieArc I think it‘s Bookshelf Credibility. @BCredibility 4y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa @Lizpixie Thanks @JamieArc , she was faster than me. It‘s Bookcase Credibility 4y
