Most of these poems focus on specific people within Trump‘s sphere while in office. A couple focus more on events that highlight his poor behavior. What really struck me as I read these was how many of the scandals, lies, and scams, I had forgotten about.

Very piercing, scathing satire alongside amazingly accurate portraits of the Trump administration. John Lithgow is a genius and a legend.

The short poem about Mike Pence was my favorite one, and I love that Lithgow did his own illustrations!

This is a cute collection of poetic political satire. If you‘re a Trump fan, you‘re going to hate it so just leave it on the shelf. If you have a sense of humour (especially after the 2020 election), this just might be the poetry collection for you. Looking forward to Volume 2 (especially now that the insanity of the last four years is almost over). I can‘t wait for the poem about Trump being the sorest loser of all.

John Lithgow is clever and witty in his construction of poems about Trump and his cronies. It‘s funny but also depressing, given that it‘s all true. He provides a brief description of the subject of each poem at its end, so you don‘t have to be a political junkie to get it all. I missed out on the illustrations with the audio, but Lithgow‘s performance of this is stellar.

Easy, breezy 1 day read. Lithgow is such a clever wordsmith and sharp satirist.

Lithgow is an American treasure — we all know who definitely is not (I could have done without all of the sound effects on the audiobook, however 😂🤷🏻‍♀️).

I saw this on Colbert, but I had no idea he was such a lovely poet. I think this has to get moved up the old TBR/Wishlist. 🤣😂🤣 Some of the other poems I saw in the sample were better, but this one fit the easiest into a square. lol

When my husband asked me to look for a book for him, I was very excited that my library had it in. My husband is not a reader, so I‘m happy to have gotten this in his hands while he‘s still interested!

I won‘t be reading it, as I don‘t keep up with politics. The drawings are a riot though, and I think it‘s very cool that John Lithgow wrote and illustrated this!

This was an impulse grab on #Hoopla. Lithgow‘s wit and creativity made it irresistible despite my general dislike for polarizing politics. There were some chuckles, for sure, especially because it‘s not hard to imagine Lithgow in poetic verse.

Funny political satire.

Highly recommend listening to the audiobook, performed by John Lithgow himself.
