Legend of Holly Claus
Legend of Holly Claus | Brittney Ryan
17 posts | 11 read | 11 to read
Santa Claus is the King of Forever, Land of the Immortals. When one special boy writes to Santa asking what no other child has ever asked -- what he wants for Christmas -- a miracle occurs: Santa and his wife are blessed with a daughter. But the birth of Holly Claus also brings about a terrible curse -- from an evil soul named Herrikhan. Holly's heart is frozen, and the gates to Forever are locked, barring exit or entry. Now grown into a beautiful and selfless young woman, Holly becomes consumed with the desire to break the spell that holds her people hostage. Accompanied by four faithful and magical animal friends, she escapes to the wondrous world of Victorian New York and embarks on a series of dangerous and life-changing adventures. With fanciful characters, rich language, and evocative imagery, The Legend of Holly Claus pays tribute to the great fairy tales and myths of our time. This epic novel filled with mystery, magic, and wonder is destined to take its place as a Christmas classic.

I've made a very ambitious TBR for #WinterGames this year! I know the titles are hard to make out, but I didn't want to try to stack 72 books 😂 (a bunch of those are children's books) 🎄 #TeamGameSleighers @StayCurious

I've also made my #bookspin list and will be doing #bookspinbingo also, @TheAromaofBooks

HollyBolly I love The Legend of Holly Claus so much!!! I try to read it every year! 2y
wordslinger42 @HollyBolly I do the same thing!! I love the story so much and those illustrations 😍 I recently found out that the author is working on a second book! 2y
TheAromaofBooks Yay!!! I need to plan an afternoon to go to my Mom's and just read all of her beautiful children's Christmas books - she has such a collection and almost all of them have amazing artwork. 2y

wordslinger42 @TheAromaofBooks That sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon! I love children's books in general, but the Christmas ones are just extra fun 😊 2y
StayCurious For the first time I have a kid at Christmas- so I made sure to check out a bunch of kids books from the library. Baby boy can‘t understand yet but I like to think he‘s still enjoying me reading to him. 2y
SeaToSkyes I read Letters from Father Christmas a long time ago and it was so cute but also kind of sad towards the end 2y
HollyBolly @wordslinger42 She is?! That is exciting!! 2y
wordslinger42 @StayCurious That's so fun for you to make those memories with him! 😊 2y
wordslinger42 @SeaToSkyes I agree! I read it for the first time a couple years ago, and it's become a new favorite. I love that Tolkien took the time to do something like that for his kids 2y
wordslinger42 @HollyBolly Supposedly! I checked her Goodreads yesterday and there's no update, though, so who knows? I hope it happens! 2y

❄ What don't I love about winter?! It's my favorite season! I love how quiet and still everything is when it snows.

2. The Name of the Wind. I still perfectly remember the last line, & it's unusual for something to stick with me line that book did.

3. Middle Grade (for the fantasy genre) and then fantasy or bargain books section

4. I'm not sure who's new to Litsy, but if you are, welcome and consider yourseld tagged!

I‘m sure most of this months photo challenges have a TBR. Here‘s mine. It‘s not the tree. It‘s the books surrounding the tree.

I hate to admit but this is made from only books under my TV.

hermyknee So cool!!! 5y
GingerAntics Great idea for making a tree!!! 5y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Looks good! I tried making one once, and it didn't turn out so good. 5y

Temporarily DNFing this. I‘m so sad to say I just didn‘t get around to finishing it before Christmas time was over. I was absolutely LOVING it though. I will definitely pick it up again, maybe during Christmas in July!

This book has that classic Victorian Christmas feel. it's 500+ pages, but it didn't feel that long. I loved it. It's a very beautiful story about love conquering fear.
