Aims42 @AlaMich I just looked it up ‘Novel Ideas‘ was the name of it, it closed 😢 But there are some other independent bookstores on the peninsula, so all is not lost 🤗 5y

AlaMich @Aims42 Novel Bay Booksellers in Sturgeon Bay was a great bookstore. Small, but a nice selection. Wm. Caxton in Ellison Bay is the epitome of a musty used bookstore, but it was fun, and the owner was very interesting to talk to. 5y

Reggie I loved this movie. I felt the pace was a little slow. But this movie breaks my heart. Especially when you know there are kids who have no one looking out for them. I'm glad the guy won for best supporting actor. 7y

I know this is where we talk about books, but I saw this movie the other night and I can't stop thinking about it. It's the best movie I've seen probably all year. If it's playing anywhere near you, I highly recommend seeing it.

BooksForEmpathy @mauveandrosysky Yes. All the YES. It was the best movie I've seen, too. We got to stay afterwards for a special Q&A with Barry Jenkins and it made me fall in love even more. He said that none of the actors who play Chiron met each other beforehand! Wasn't the acting so nuanced and superbly cast? "Chiron" was my favorite chapter and that actor blew my mind. @Notafraidofwords It is definitely emotional. But such an important movie to see. 7y

BooksForEmpathy And by beforehand, I mean they didn't meet before playing their roles. Barry Jenkins said that he was looking for actors with the same quality in their eyes. I think it showed through perfectly. 7y

BooksForEmpathy ALSO: The movie IS based on a play called In the Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue. It's by Tarell Alvin McCraney who also helped Barry Jenkins write the screenplay. I tried to post about it here a while ago, but it's not in the Litsy system!!! Maybe it is now? 7y

I totally get what he's saying about them having the same quality in their eyes. WOW. I think the last chapter was my favorite. The tension between the two actors...I honestly had no idea what was going to happen next or how it was going to end. And like, how Chiron comes across as so tough at that point but still so vulnerable. It killed me. 7y
