The names Bond.James Bond.#December21 #12booksin2021 read all the Bond books again to prepare for a quiz, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them, again.Fleming is not given enough credit as a writer.Singer's book is a hilarious, moving account of trying to find oneself.Muriel Spark, needless to say, this book captured being a restless teenager so excellently.A good reading month,as the others were!

Ruthiella I read the Bond books many years ago and thought they were a lot of fun. And so different from the films for the most part! 2y
Vansa @Ruthiella exactly, they're very different from the movies in very good and unexpected ways!! 2y

Starting on the 12th, Ian Fleming, James Bond book...😎😎😎🍸🍸🍸🔫🔫🔫

JanuarieTimewalker13 Wow!! How many are there? 6y
GlitterGirl @JanuarieTimewalker13 Ian Fleming wrote 14 James Bond novels (well 13 and a collection of short stories, published in one volume - For Your Eyes Only). After Fleming's death various other authors continued writing Bond novels...but I view the Fleming books as canon! 😎 (Will post picture of my collection shortly) 6y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Cool, thank you for the education! Can‘t wait for the pic!! Should they be read in order? 6y
GlitterGirl @JanuarieTimewalker13 I will advise to read it in order... 1. Because this is my and I won't be able to read it any other way😆😉😂 and 2. Because of recurring characters and they refer to events in previous books. However you can actually read them individually as well...they usually give a brief explanation about previous events and characters. 6y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Ok, great!! One day I hope to try the first one!!! Thank you so much💐 6y

Have You Read the Most Popular Book From the Year You Were Born? This is mine, and I have not read it. Here's where to look for yours: http://twentytwowords.com/have-you-read-the-most-popular-book-from-the-year-you-...

LauraBrook Mine is a Mario Puzo novel I've never heard of before. Needless to say, I've never read it. 7y
Ncostell Mine is Jonathan Livingston Seagull which I have not read (and don't think I will) but it was fun looking it up in the link. 7y
Angelala007 Mine is The Exorcist. I'm afraid 😳 7y
See All 32 Comments
DarcysMom @Angelala007 Mine too! I haven't read it yet, and I am not sure I will! 7y
kyraleseberg Mine is Stephen King's It 😱 7y
AmyG Mine is Lolita...which I loved and read twice. 7y
Lmstraubie Not only have I never read it. I've never even heard of it! 😶 7y
TheKidUpstairs Mine is E.T. Based on the screenplay 😣 So I don't think I'll be reading it. Might be time to rewatch the movie, though! 7y
DrexEdit Herzog by Saul Bellow. Never read it. I think I've read some other Saul Bellow though and I don't remember liking it much. 7y
StephanieMarie Have not read mine. I love how timeless books are, I have heard of almost all of these and read quite a few of them despite not being born when they were most popular! 7y
Laura317 That's my birth year, too. I saw the movie. Does that count? 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @LauraBrook @Ncostell @Angelala007 @DarcysMom @kyraleseberg @AmyG @Lmstraubie @TheKidUpstairs @DrexEdit @StephanieMarie @Laura317 Thanks for playing along! It makes me feel old ... 😜. I've only read two of the books we've gotten - Seagull and Waiting to Exhale. I'd read The Exorcist instead of seeing the movie. Never read Puzo, Bellow, or Lolita. I wonder what this year's most read book will be? 7y
Zelma Yuck. Not only have did I have the right guess, I have already tried and abandoned it. Hate this book (edited) 7y
Bookzombie I thought for 1978 it was going to be Sophie's Choice, but it's a Mario Puzo book I'm unfamiliar with. 7y
Grrlbrarian Mine's The Exorcist. Um, giant crunchy NO to that - but at least it isn't Love Story! 😂 (edited) 7y
Bklover My year is Dr Zhivago, and I haven't read it. I saw the movie, but I remember it being very long! 7y
Bklover @minkyb I LOVE Eloise!❤️ 7y
SaturnDoo Ok am I the only one from 71 who has read The Exorcist 😂 I read it years ago when I was a teen but probably wouldn't read it now. I have read several books on this list and want to go back and see what others are there. Thanks for sharing 😊 7y
Angelala007 @DarcysMom I kind of want to read it now. 🙈 @Lmstraubie Portnoy's Complaint made me laugh out loud mire than once. 7y
Betty_Bookworm Ooo. I like this challenge! 7y
AmyG I loved The Exorcist. I remember my father taking me to the movie because I was too young to get in. But....I was a huge horror genre fan. And Mario Puzo.... I have only read The Godfather. In middle school we would pass the book around secretly....the sex scene with Sonny at the wedding. Oh, how times have changed. ;) (edited) 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Zelma I struggled with Sophie's Choice also. 7y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @minkyb I'm envious you got Eloise! She's always been one of favorites! 7y
britt_brooke Cujo (1981) - and hell no, I haven't read it! I'm a 🐔💩!! 7y
britt_brooke @Lmstraubie I recently added Portnoy's Complaint to my TBR! 7y
UwannaPublishme What fun! Thanks for posting this! So many classics listed here. Mine is Eloise. Just like @minkyb Must add to my TBR. 7y
Lmstraubie @Angelala007 Okay, now I'm intrigued.🤔 7y
Angelala007 @Lmstraubie You read Portnoy, I'll read The Exorcist🙈deal? 😊 7y
Lmstraubie @Angelala007 Deal! I could never read the Exorcist! 🤤 7y
JanuarieTimewalker13 So cool, Ok, I‘m going to check! 6y

I don't really own many #SpyNovels but I found this amazing first edition (second printing, damn it) James Bond at a yard sale. Ain't she a beaut?! #PhotoADayNov16

KVanRead What an amazing and totally unexpected cover. 7y
RanaElizabeth What on earth is the reason for the cover? I'm a little hazy on my Bond but I don't recall a frog in any of the stories. 7y
LeahBergen @KVanRead @RanaElizabeth I haven't read it so I have no idea what is up with this frog cover! 😂 Maybe a Litsy Bond fan will know? Anyone? 7y

Anton The setting is an estate in Japan filled with poisonous plants and animals, so that's likely supposed to be a venomous toad. 😂 7y
LeahBergen @Anton Thank you!! And do you think the dragonfly is thinking "you only live twice; once when you are born and once when you look death in the face"?? ? 7y
Anton @LeahBergen Haha, for sure 7y
Hobbinol Another great edition (second or not). I couldn't find a single spy novel in my collection. All I could think of was Milady de Winter in the 3 Musketeers!😂 7y
LeahBergen @Hobbinol Ohhh, yes. Milady is a bit of a badass! ❤️ 7y
MaleficentBookDragon Love the cover! I ❤️ frogs and James Bond so it's a win win for me. 7y
elkeOriginal Holy sh*t! This is the oddest and most amazing cover ever! You are #winning this book collecting game we call life! 7y
LeahBergen @elkeo 😂 Isn't it a bizarre cover? I snapped it up so bloody fast ... 7y
