This Thing of Darkness
This Thing of Darkness: Fiona Griffiths Crime Thriller Series | Harry Bingham
13 posts | 7 read | 6 to read
A hanged man, a stolen painting, an impossible crime A marine engineer is found hanged in a locked apartment. Some artwork is stolen, then mysteriously returned. A security guard is found dead at the base of a Welsh cliff. When Fiona Griffiths is tasked to look through a stackload of cold cases, her bosses don't expect her to find anything of interest. But then she finds that an impossible robbery really happened. That a nailed-on suicide was anything but. That the dead security guard was almost certainly murdered. Before long, Fiona is embroiled in what will become the toughest case of her career so far - one that forces her to enter the heart of darkness, and a journey that will test her mental toughness to its very limits. This international hit series is ideal for fans of Stieg Larsson, Gillian Flynn, Jo Nesbo ... and for anyone at all who loves their crime noir and their female protagonists strong, brave and smart. Watch out for more titles in the Fiona Griffiths crime thriller series When Fiona is called out to attend an incident in a remote country churchyard, she finds the corpse of a young woman, reverentially laid out in a howling October night. She suspects murder . . . but the truth is far worse. THE DEAD HOUSE. Coming 2016. Don't miss it!

Another great read in this series. Fiona is a great MC, the detective plots are always brilliant and you just never know what Fiona is going to do next.
Well recommended for those that like characters with a bit of an edge and British crime/detective novels.
Start of the beginning though....

MicheleinPhilly I think I have the first of these. 6y

Oh Fiona, what a mess she is in the relationship department. I don't know how her bosses believe her after everything that takes place. It's a stretch, even for someone who is "odd". This forth book is a nice addition to the series. I still want to know who her biological parents are.

Another excellent book in the series. I admire Fiona's resilience and persistence and her strength to do what is right. I love her thought processes and frankness and perspective on her career. And I especially loved the scenes aboard ship! This series gets better and better.

#24in48 intro survey:
1️⃣ Reading from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
2️⃣ This will be my first 24in48
3️⃣ I heard about it from Litsy
4️⃣ I am most excited to read This Thing of Darkness
5️⃣ I treat police procedurals set in other countries as "cozy mysteries" - they are cozy for the setting, not the subject matter ?
6️⃣ Here on Litsy

Lining up a few possibilities for #24in48:
▶️ This Thing of Darkness: my "tear through in a weekend" indulgence
▶️ Even Dogs in the Wild: needs to be finished off, should go quickly
▶️ Comme un roman: in my second language, will take longer to absorb
