I do like a Mary Stewart book. 😊 A quibble about the narrator: she did accents well and differentiated the minor characters but the two characters who did the most talking sounded alike. Esp weird as one was female and the other male.

I‘m a little obsessed with these very cool covers…
My latest #ReadingEurope2020 trip took me to Austria, revisiting a favorite author from my teens. Mary Stewart's books were some of my first 'adult' books. Lipizzaner horses, a circus, and a couple of mysteries to be solved made this an enjoyable read.

It turns out the adventure was much more than looking for Vanessa's husband and following the circus...
A shadowy agency (I.e. spies!) prevents me from expanding on the details, but it was thrilling! Zooming in a Mercedes through mountain roads, climbing in a rack railway, being chased over a chateau roof. 😳
Great company, exciting adventures, and quite a few surprises along the way!

Imagine finding out from a garrulous friend that your husband of 2 years just appeared on a newsreel from Vienna, meaning he is not in Stockholm, as he said. What to do? Take action! Jump on the chance to chaperone the friend's son to Vienna!
What do I do? Join in the adventure! Vanessa and I intend to find out what exactly is going on...

(I'm enjoying a cup of Veranda blend, black)
A #trick is at the heart of Mary Stewart's story. Great read. This is probably my favourite of her books.

Mary Stewart's novels involve crime (and romance!) in exotic locales. #internationalcrime #feistyfeb
