I‘d encourage people doing the #pop21 challenge to read a Fat Liberation book instead #BodyPositivity book. Fat Liberation not only deals with feeling better about the body you‘re in and your relationship with weight, food, and exercise but it also includes dismantling the system of oppression of fat people. That is everything from making airplanes more comfortable for everyone to size-inclusive fashion to being treated well at the doctor. ⬇️

Megabooks @BarbaraBB Hunger is more a memoir of why Roxane is fat and her life story as a fat person. This book is less memoir and more activism. It‘s an explanation of the systematic oppression fat people face and how to combat it. The parts where she talks about herself are about learning to love her body rather than why it got that way. I hope this helps. 3y

This was just the right balance of funny and thought provoking - easy to read but also taught me a lot. I loved the interview sections with people who have different life experiences to her, particularly the trans man who spoke so fascinatingly about his life. Challenging but also affirming, I really recommend!

Feeling strangely anxious on US Election Day even though it isn‘t my country or my president 😬 everyone I know in the UK has been reading about it obsessively and cheering you guys on. Trying to relax now then will stay up obscenely late to watch it on telly!

I loved this at first thought it was so funny and true to life but she just went on too much for me 🤔 It doesn't matter what size you are as long as you're happy but preaching on either side of the spectrum is annoying!

First, I love Sofie Hagen. She‘s inspiring, honest, and funny!

Second, this was eye opening. I did know some of the hardships fat people go through from reading memoirs such as Hunger, Shrill and Heavy, but Hagen brings in statistics, research and facts I didn‘t know anything about.

Third, whatever your size, you can learn a great deal from Hagen and her experience. She‘s inclusive, intersectional, and did I mention funny?
