Yes I've started another series, thanks to @EadieB ! Ben Hope is definitely a different character, a loner and he rescues kidnapped children for a living. This book tells a history of alchemy, and the Cathars(who were exterminated by Pope Innocent). Hes recruited by a wealthy man to find the elixir of youth to save his granddaughter. The capers that ensue are wild and crazy. Definitely a book that one has to breathe through...ā¬‡ļø¸

EadieB @Crazeedi I don't know why they take so long to send them on. The guy at the desk told me before that at the end of the day everything needs to be gone out of the post office. Obviously they are not following that rule! (edited) 3y

A quick-paced treasure hunt thriller with plenty of action & treasure codes. Ben Hope is tortured by his missing sister who disappeared under his watch. He now devotes his life to rescuing kidnapped children. He‘s been recruited to locate an ancient manuscript containing a formula to save a dying child. This trail leads Ben and Dr Roberta Ryder from Paris to ancient Cathar to find Fulcanelli‘s elixir. Very enjoyable read and reading book 2 next.

Andrew65 @jenniferw88 Totally agree with you, a great series. One of my top 10 series. Took a small dip in the middle but then broke out again. I‘m waiting for book 22 which is published in 15 days. One series I‘m up to date in and would love to read the series again. Enjoy @TrishB I keep encouraging @EadieB to read them too!

EadieB @Andrew65 It will be resolved by December 12 when all the issues should be resolved and the states electors choose and vote for the President-Elect. Protests are sure to happen as 1 side will be happy and the other side not so happy. (edited) 3y

No list would be complete without the excellent Ben Hope Series. Number 22 to be published later this year. Really don‘t know why this series isn‘t better known. Ben really has to be one of my all-time favourite characters. Totally recommended - plenty of action with some history and fast paced.

I'm absolute trash for books like this. They are completely ridiculous and I'm rolling my eyes the whole time, but I love 'em! THE ALCHEMIST'S SECRET is a pretty standard offering with a troubled action man hero and a sexy scientist traipsing around southern France while being chased by evil Catholic priests.

What a start to a series! A book to my liking. I never understand why people go crazy for Dan Brown when there are writers like Mariani. Interesting history, alchemy, fast-paced action, good characters, well-thought out plot. I‘m a sucker for codes, mysteries going back to medieval or ancient times, and this one has it all. Book not in database so leaving review here.
This is a good episode in the Ben Hope Series, being a quick read at under 3 hours. The plot line is enjoyable and you get a good feel of exactly who Ben Hope is and it can be read at any time as no information about Ben‘s past or the character development in the series so far, and in this is the weakness of the book and why in general I don‘t like short stories or novellas. Glad I read it however.
