I have been loving this book. It‘s been a wonderful light read and have been really enjoying it.

My #bookspin for the month. I just wasn‘t really feeling it. I didn‘t keep up with who was who. Raina seems like an ok MC but eh. Didn‘t really give me the romantic feels I wanted and wasn‘t that funny for a rom-com.

Started my #bookspin pick today. Ok so far.

This was a fun and cute read. I didn't much like the main character and some of the choices she made, but that's ok and it was a good read all the same.

I DNFed this book, i was not happy with the some of the choices that the main character made and it made me not excited to keep reading the book.

When I was 9 my best friend and I set up my uncle and her Au pair. I had overheard my uncle saying she was pretty. I called my friend and she put her au pair on while I told my uncle someone wanted to talk to him. 22 years and two children later. This is obviously not the same as the culture in this book. I cannot imagine the pressures the main character goes through to please her family or the questioning of her own choices.

I liked this book but I had an issue with the main plot point. I liked how it addressed homophobia but I didn't like that the main character lied for so long to everyone else instead of telling her Nani how she really felt.

Little over halfway through, enjoying it so far.❤️ Growing up in fundie "courtship" culture, romances by authors from more conservative backgrounds is much more relatable to me and I get rather emotional cheering for them to break free while empathizing with the fear of losing family and community that you love very much.

"Can we stop at the library? I have one (1) hold I need to pick up?" ???

At 29 Raina is practically an old maid in the eyes of her Grandmother, and her traditional Indian community. Cashing in early on an agreement for arranged marriage if she was still single at 30, her Nani presents her with a list of suitable candidates. Raina reluctantly agrees to go on these dates, even though she still isn‘t over her ex, and a lot of really bad dates follow.

I recently read this for Fountain Flirt book club. I didn't love it, and it took awhile to get into. I just didn't love the main character and really disliked her lies. I did end up liking her dynamic with the love interest, but he was off screen for much of the book.

#currentlyreading this for the diverse romance book club at the bookstore. Liking it so far, but ready for it to pick up.

Ready for a light read

So if you didn‘t know, this is the Target Diversity Book Club pick and each copy comes with a letter from the author in the bind up. It was a great surprise when I opened it up! Definitely ready for a good fluffy romance 😍

I loved this book! It was so cute and easy to read. It brought up a lot of cultural and diversity issues which I also think is important and sets it apart from most chick lit books. I flew through this in just a few days. Definitely recommend for light reading! I‘m looking forward to Sonya Lalli‘s next book due out in 2020. 4 stars!

I somehow got sucked into the book section at Target 🤷‍♀️ No idea how it happened but ended up having to pick this up. I‘m currently listening to my friend tell me the process that she‘s going through with initial steps of an Indian arranged marriage and this just seemed appropriate. Can‘t wait to pick this up in the near future!

Friday night I was in my pj‘s before 8 so I could kick off Family Day Weekend reading 😂 this book is a quick read full of all the ups and downs of trying to find the right person to love. The food descriptions are amazing and so are the messages about being true to yourself and what real love should be

My Valentine‘s present from my hubby

Raina has a hard childhood and is still kind of a mess as a nearly 30-year-old unmarried woman in her community. She‘s still mourning the possible love of her life, and the many, many, many first dates her grandmother offers - all with marriage on their mind - aren‘t what she needs either. Unlikeable protagonist hides behind a weirdly homophobic smokescreen. I wanted more from the protagonist and the book.

#amreading because of Maya Rodale‘s NPR list. Not impressed so far, but only 37% of the way through.

I got this AMAZING surprise in the mail today, some #JB love! I will definitely be repaying the love, I just need to do some TBR stalking 🔍 @Jas16 @Kdgordon88 I will write back soon! I like to do my replies on the weekend when I can actually take a moment to sit and think!

First ARC of 2019. This was fun, though it is also surprisingly serious for a supposed romcom. I teared up a lot. Parts of this really hit home to me, the unmarried 30-something daughter from an Asian immigrant family.

I was a bit leery that one plotline would be over-the-top and awful but it was handled with sensitivity and in a way that worked.

It fell behind my stacks of books inside of my bookcase. I literally had to pull most of my books out (150 books) just to find it!!

HELP! I‘ve looked all over for this book I‘ve won while back. Was going to read it tonight bc I need to give my review. Can‘t find it. Only thing I can think is I accidentally wrapped this instead of the other book which is almost similar to colors and etc. so those who received books from me got this in bookswaps can you return it and I get you a book of your choice.
