From The King of Christmas, Richard Paul Evans, the next exciting holiday-themed novel in his New York Times bestselling The Noel Collection. Maggie Walther feels like her world is imploding. Publicly humiliated after her husband, a local councilman, is arrested for bigamy, and her subsequent divorce, she has isolated herself from the world. When her only friend insists that Maggie climb out of her hole, and embrace the season to get her out of her funk, Maggie decides to put up a Christmas tree and heads off to buy onealbeit reluctantly. She is immediately taken by Andrew, the kind, handsome man who owns the Christmas tree lot and delivers her tree. She soon learns that Andrew is single and new to her city and, like her, is also starting his life anew. As their friendship develops, Maggie slowly begins to trust againsomething she never thought possible. Then, just when she thinks she has finally found happiness, she discovers a dark secret from Andrews past. Is there more to this strangers truth than meets the eye? This powerful new holiday novel from Richard Paul Evans, the King of Christmas fiction (The New York Times), explores the true power of the season, redemption, and the freedom that comes from forgiveness.

Cute holiday romance. My only complaint is the bppl is a little on the sappy side and it seemed a bit contrived. If you like Nicolas Sparks you will probably like this author. 3⭐️

So, I read a Christmas book in August. I needed something light-hearted, and this fit the bill. It was a sweet romance, although pretty unrealistic. Definitely cute.

LeslieO Oh I admire that! I can‘t do it. I would have had to save it until December. 4y
Meghan1 @LeslieO I think it‘s been sitting on my nightstand that long! I figured it was time to read it! 😂🤣 4y
Ruthiella I support year round seasonal reading! 4y

This was...okay, but pushed the limits of believability pretty hard. It was a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

So I planned to read a book from my RP Evans stack, but forgot to grab it on my way out. However, on my phone the public library is always open so I pulled down this story of Maggie who thought she was done with surprises after learning her husband was a cheating scoundrel. But then came Christmas Tree Lot Andrew - and more surprises. I liked reading the story, but in the end, I have issues with Andrew and can‘t give it a full pick.

I named these 2 my worst reads of 2018. I usually enjoy a fluffy Richard Paul Evans Christmas romance, but it was too hard to suspend my disbelief for these. In The Noel Stranger a woman goes off to Mexico with a guy about a week after they met. In Mistletoe Inn a guy main character meets at a writers‘ conference in VT flies her to PA & NYC after knowing him for 3 days.
Everything moved way too fast!

A typical Christmas/ Holiday story - sappy and a bit unrealistic but every once in a while we need a read to be light and turn out all right in the end.
