This is my pick for 1985. Yes, for me this was another re-read. I haven‘t read it since…gosh, 1999 when we lived in England. I fell in love with it all over again! This is without a doubt one of the best romance books penned. This title made me fall in love with historical romance novels way back when! Love the characters, the setting, the humor. Love love love! A real book with a romance inside

Was up at 3:30 this morning with an awful sinus headache, so I snuck out to the sofa to read for a bit...and devoured this in a single sitting. 34/100 for the year.

Ugh. Every 20 pages or so, a blue line at the end of a paragraph, like someone was marking their progress. Who *does* that in a LIBRARY book?!

Enjoyable, although I found the constant misunderstandings got old (communication people!). But overall a great historical romance. 😀

Came in at 20 hours and 43 minutes for my #24in48 #readathon. I'm definitely going to tweak my strategy a little next time to hit 24 hours! I read a total of 10 books (mostly short ones and GN) and started an 11th. I think it ended up being around 1800 pages. 😁The majority of these I absolutely loved!

A Classic.

I've read both the original (published in 1985) and the updated versions. Even though the original has controversy attached, and I will never condone rape or rape culture, I prefer the original version. It was a story of its time and straight-forward. The updated version tried to sanitize the story. That just feels dishonest.

I loved @TheNextBook's #birthdaychallenge and decided to add that to my list of challenges next year! I went through the books I own and came up with this list (no rereads). I missing a few years so any suggestions would be great!
