I Funny: A Middle School Story | James Patterson, Chris Grabenstein
8 posts | 11 read | 5 to read
Jamie Grimm is a middle schooler on a mission: he wants to become the world's greatest standup comedian--even if he doesn't have a lot to laugh about these days. He's new in town and stuck living with his aunt, uncle, and their evil son Stevie, a bully who doesn't let Jamie's wheelchair stop him from messing with Jamie as much as possible. But Jamie doesn't let his situation get him down. When his Uncle Frankie mentions a contest called The Planet's Funniest Kid Comic, Jamie knows he has to enter. But are the judges only rewarding him out of pity because of his wheelchair, like Stevie suggests? Will Jamie ever share the secret of his troubled past instead of hiding behind his comedy act? Following the bestselling success of the hilarious Middle School, The Worst Years of My Life, James Patterson continues to dish out the funnies in another highly-illustrated, heartfelt middle school story. (Includes more than 175 black-and-white illustrations.)

I would participate in the #bookmarkswap but something tells me no one would want my son's choice of bookmark. ☠👃👎

MyNightstandRunnethOver @Bookwormjillk Yes it's clean because he doesn't keep them on his feet. He hates wearing socks so I don't think they were on long enough to get dirty. 6y
MyNightstandRunnethOver @Bookladylinda Yes he is creative. He drives his teachers crazy. Outside the box......He won't even acknowledge there is a box. 6y

The Kid just had a birthday a few days ago and my dad sent her this whole set. She turned 7, y'all. My dad is convinced that she and my niece are geniuses and that recommended ages don't apply to them. 😂😂😂

Kaye What age are these books for ? I‘m not familiar with kids‘ books myself. You can save them for her when she gets older. Sometimes when you‘re a Grandparent Age, you sorta lose track of what age books would work for what kids. 6y
EchoLogical @Kaye The series is suggested for ages 8+ but a book of this size (320 pages) can deter younger children. Plus, the main character is in middle school so I'd recommend it to ages 10 and up. My daughter's already trying to read it so I'm sure she'll enjoy it, when she's ready for it. My dad is a huge James Patterson fan so I'm sure he saw his name thought "yes, these will do." Lol 6y
BookNAround I never paid attention to recommended ages for my kids either as long as I was somewhat close. If they were sufficiently interested, they read it, if not, we just added it to the kid shelves for later discovery. 6y

One of my students said this was his favorite book & asked me if I wanted to borrow it. Can't say no to that! Happy Sunday! 📚
