Welcome to your dream home. Kirsty's family have escaped London for the beautiful, remote Welsh mountains, leaving their dark past behind. Opening their guesthouse marks the start of the type of idyllic life some people would kill for. It's supposed to be your safe haven. But their first guest isn't one they expected. Kirsty hasn't spoken to her cousin since a lie tore their family apart seventeen years ago. Why has Selena chosen now to force her way back into their still-fragile lives? So why does it feel like you're trapped? Living with strangers under her roof, Kirsty soon realizes she doesn't know her own family as well as she thought. Kirsty also knows she's going to regret allowing Selena into their home to stir up old secrets. She just doesn't know it will end in murder. Be careful who you invite inside . . . Praise for Claire Douglas 'If you loved Clare Mackintosh . . . you will love Claire Douglas' Woman & Home 'Thrillingly tense and twisty, a great read' B A Paris 'Stunning . . . with a killer twist' Closer 'Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train' Marie Claire

“Following a traumatic event in London, Kirsty Woodhouse packs up her family and moves back to her native Wales. There she sets up her new home with her husband and two young daughters and goes into business with her mother managing a guesthouse in the Brecon Beacons. When the guesthouse is ready to be occupied, Kirsty encounters the last person she ever expected to see: her estranged cousin Selena, who tore everything apart between them.”

Mehso-so

A slow paced family drama that wasn‘t as interesting as it sounded. Mostly about compulsive liar, a guest house, crappy characters + their secrets, a unnamed body at the start of the story so you don‘t know who is dead or why til around the midway point. Good things were a few twists/reveals I was interested in (not the main ones though) and I liked the setting (Wales). Not very thrilling, but readable and will try another by this author! :)

I‘m on the fence with this one. It took me awhile to get into it, but then when I did, I flew through and was loving it. But it‘s hard to explain how I feel about the ending 🤔.. parts were predictable, but that was ok. 👍🏻 #tbrread #wintergames #merryreaders #wintergames2020 ✨ 16 pts ✨

This started out a little slow for me, but it ended up being a fun, engrossing thriller set in Wales. I thought I figured out the mystery but I was wrong, which is always fun.

There's no #bookstack. But this picture shows 858 books.

I haven't downloaded any kindle crack this year, also no newsletter freebies. Alas, I was just approved for 11 more galleys (whish I had read an ARC instead of "shopping" for more).

Larkken Lol. Kindle Crack is a perfect name. 5y
TrishB I think I‘ve done well if I manage a day without buying some #kindlecrack - I think this is worthy of its own tag! 5y
julesG @TrishB Definitely! The best way to avoid even looking for #kindlecrack was not opening my BookBub mail. 5y

Gah, got the prompt wrong.

This here is a #bookwormproblem.

I've barely sat down, the cat jumps into my lap. Can you spot my kindle? Or my knitting bag?

Let me tell you, she does it on purpose. All the time.

Wanted to read the tagged book, now I'm a victim of #KAL.

Sitting outside with what's left over of my lunch salad.

#NetGalley #ARC from @PenguinPublishing that has been on my TBR for much too long. Mea culpa!

It's set in Wales, in a Victorian house close to an old church. I'm only a "tomato salad" in, but it's already building up tension.

This was a very good read and the ending really gets you thinking about what you would do in that situation. The plot is interesting. It start with a death then jumps back to before and follows the timeline through which was so interesting. I really enjoyed the plot and the twists that develop in the story. I'm not sure what I would have done at the end and definitely hadn't figured out the killer until revealed.

Adrian and Kirsty move to wales with their family to open up a B and B, sounds beautiful moving away from the huddle and bussel but that is not how it turns out. Family come and stay bringing with them unresolved issues from the past. This book flows beautiful and You soon get a picture of the key characters and the reader is led through this intricate plot involving family and an old house and a village that really don‘t want new arrivals
