It was hard burying our brother, it was traumatic to see the anguish in his fiancée‘s eyes & try to reassure her that his murder was not her fault.

In our state Domestic Violence Homicides accounts for 42% of the homicides a year. So far in 2020 we have had 9! It needs to stop!

LapReader We lose power when we blame ourselves. I hope you guys find the strength to help stop it happening to others. The statistics you mention are just as bad in Australia. Finally someone has written a book about it but funding is being cut. You guys are in my thoughts but also my actions to fight against domestic violence xo

LinesUponAPage @LapReader thank you! it‘s one of the things we family members decided to help bring Domestic Violence to the forefront to help the women & children who are stuck in the middle of it. Our Children‘s Justice Center helps with DV & Sex Trafficing but our state doesn‘t do enough for those who have applied for Protective papers. We‘ve lived in different states that are much more aggressive with treatment and forfeiture of any weapons. 4y

InBooksILive My mother's 1st husband was extremely physically and mentally abusive to her. Thankfully she got away safely from him. Domestic abuse doesn't get talked about like it should be talked about, it just gets pushed under the rug or the victims are made to feel like it's their fault or there's no way out. I'm so sorry about your brother.. 4y

LinesUponAPage @InBooksILive how horrible that your mom went through such terror. I‘m so sorry. I agree with you DV isn‘t talked about enough. My poor almost-sisters-in-law has such terrible guilt & we keep explaining to her that in no way is she responsible for her ex-husband‘s actions. She is just as much a victim as my brother-in-law was. At least that SOB took his own life there was special place in hell waiting for him. Her healing will be a long haul. 😢 (edited) 4y
