@CBee Jane posted this one to her IG a few weeks ago. She‘s been hinting at trying to get a new series, 30 years later, made. Of course, this sent us all a flutter.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That would be very interesting! 3y
SassyBookworm I loved that show! I would watch it all the time after school as a kid! 3y
CBee ♥️♥️♥️ 3y
GingerAntics @SassyBookworm @Riveted_Reader_Melissa @CBee someone asked her on extra or some show like that. She said she really wanted to do it, Beth, Joe, Will and everyone was on board, and she really thought a streaming service, like Netflix, was the perfect platform for it. That was a couple years ago now. She said they were trying to get the rights to do it, I think from CBS. (edited) 3y

Okay, Litens, I need your help. I got Dr. Quinn on DVD and I‘m watching the library episode. I‘m trying to make a list for a friend and I of all the books mentioned in this episode, and we‘re not sure what to make of the above reference. We think it could be Jane Austen‘s Sense and Sensibility, but we‘re not sure. Can anyone think of anything it could be? #DrQuinnReadingList #BlameDrMike #DrQuinn #namethatbook

Butterfinger Wish I could help. 4y
Ericalambbrown My first thought is Elizabeth Gaskell. She was a friend of Dickens and they shared a desire to write with a social conscience. I can think of a couple of her characters that were prostitutes and other sorts of “fallen” women. (edited) 4y
GingerAntics @Ericalambbrown ooooh... she could be the one. The time frame is perfect and she seems famous enough to have made it to Boston in time to be included in the library in question. I‘m thinking you‘ve got it. I knew I could count on you guys!!! 4y

Ericalambbrown Well, this has got me thinking. . . Mary Wollstonecraft wrote about prostitution outright in a nonfiction sense. If the character was at all progressive, he could have meant her. Also George Eliot. She had a little bit to say in both Middlemarch and Mill on the Floss about women having no options other than prostitution. This got me thinking! Thank you! 😊 4y
GingerAntics @Ericalambbrown he could have been. She talks about him being open minded and all that. Is it‘s from the mid-19th century or sooner it could all apply. 4y
GingerAntics @Ericalambbrown I think, in a way, we‘re trying to “reconstruct” and read his library from what is mentioned or read in the show. Conceivably, all three could be in there. I‘m going to put down all three and see what she thinks. I‘m voting all three are in there. lol 4y
Ericalambbrown @GingerAntics That‘s awesome! What a fun thing to do 4y
GingerAntics @Ericalambbrown we‘re both readers (she‘s the fancy one with a MA in Lit) and we both love Dr. Quinn. Once we discovered this episode, we started compiling a list. Other books are mentioned in other episodes. We‘ve got 12 books, a book topic we‘re still deciphering, the genre of “poetry,” and 4 authors so far. It‘s not the Gilmore Girls list or anything, but it‘s fun... and still growing. (edited) 4y

I accomplished absolutely nothing today because I've spent literally the entire day watching a marathon of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman on Hallmark. I've loved this show since I was little, and the only time I ever thought I wanted to grow up and become a doctor was when this was first on in the early 90s. My complete lack of skill in science class eventually destroyed that dream.

sisilia Oh I used to watch this on TV 😬 6y
batsy I used to love this show too! 6y

So I‘m totally bingeing on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman on Amazon Prime and revisiting my childhood. Still love it. And feeling like I wanna read a real good Western—Any recommendations? I like grit and authenticity—no romanticization of natives. I‘m all for social justice and diverse reads. Anything out there? I‘ve never read a western before...I guess I‘ll be revisiting Walker, Texas Ranger after this!

Cinfhen OMG!!! Best western 6y
Cinfhen It's such a good book!!!! 6y
Wbabdullah @Cinfhen Is this the movie that came out a couple of years ago? I think Matt Damon was in it? If so I really enjoyed that and maybe I should read the book... (edited) 6y

tricours Now I want to read both True Grit and News of the world. @Cinfhen @Sydsavvy 6y
Sydsavvy @tricours - True Grit is worthy of yearly re-read. Both are superb audios. 😎 6y
Wbabdullah Alright, officially added to my TBR @Cinfhen and @Sydsavvy —thank you! 6y
Wbabdullah @robinb I‘m going to put Lonesome Dove on my TBR too! 6y
robinb @Wbabdullah I fell in love with the miniseries years ago but never tried to tackle the chunkster of a book...I think maybe I was afraid it wouldn‘t be as great as the series. I had meant to join the group read recently here on Litsy but missed it. So I‘ve just ordered the book...no more excuses. 👍😊 6y

So it isn't that this is #sobaditisgood but it is so deliciously cheesy. I vividly remember finding this at a book sale when I was little and being so excited. The fact that I have kept it so long and its rumpled state may give you a hint of how good this cheese was 😂 #maybookflowers

JazzFeathers I remember watching the series on tv. It was my very favourite atca certain point. Never known there were books 😆 7y
