- Quick and easy reads
- Badass female characters
- Witty banter
- Okay worldbuilding and twists
- So many names, so little descriptions

Overall an enjoyable duology!

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, as much as I did the first one. Brilliant narration and I was so invested. Such a pleasant surprise when I‘d not really seen any hype around these yet they‘ve been a favorite so far this year. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I liked the final part in the duology and enjoyed the fast-paced adventures with the crew of the Ava-lee yet again! I liked how the characters (both main and side) developed throughout the story and love the cute banter between Alosa and Riden. Of course, the conclusion of the book was great and I highly recommend the series to anyone who likes pirates and amazing female characters! ⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was pretty good.
Not going to lie - I am older than the intended demographic for this but I wanted more pirating!

Overall it was fun and wrapped up the story arc nicely as well as answered some questions from the first book but I do think it's a shame the the last 3 chapters captivated me more than the entirety of the book.

Wow. Just wow. This book, like the first, is such an easy read. I‘d say it‘s better than the first honestly. It‘s was very easy to pick up and get lost in the adventure (it‘s currently 1 am as I‘m finishing the book). It‘s action packed until the end and I think the author does a good job of wrapping everything up and possibly leaving room for another book.

I loved the first book in this series and the sequel is just as satisfying. Girl pirates kicking ass.. I like the fun adventures and the Jack Sparrow vibes. I am curious if her other books will live up to this series. If you are looking for a fun easy read, look no further.

The sequel to "Daughter of a Pirate King" was honestly better than the first. I really enjoyed the first, but Alosa and her crew have new adventures sailing the sea in the sequel. I was captivated by the strong female pirate crew and am happy to have read the book! If you like to read about strong females, and enjoy piracy, this YA adventure novel is for you!

I wish I could give it more stars. This is the perfect ending to this story. There was adventure at every turn!!!!! Riden and Alosa are at the forefront. Their relationship for me is what pushed me to continue. It was a roller coaster. It was great watching Alosa command her band of pirates and to become the woman she is supposed to be. I laughed and was at the edge of my seat. I was both petrified and excited the entire time.

BayouGirl85 I agree. It needs more stars than 5. 2y

A GREAT read (dare I say, better than the first book). Action packed as any pirate adventure book should be with just enough gore to make you cringe once or twice. You fall in love with each of the main cast as they are introduced to the reader throughout the book. The push-pull romance is maddening at times and is beautifully written. Very well done!

Book 2 in the duology focuses on Alosa's Siren half. Learning more about her past and her powers and how they're all linked together. There was more action than romance in this book, as evidenced by a pretty bloody first line. Lots of badass women in both books. All in all, the series was a fun swashbuckling tale, and once again makes me wish I knew how to sword fight. Anne Bonny would be proud.

So I'm wearing sweatpants in July because I got the worst sunburn of my life at the music festival yesterday. I put on sunscreen before we left and like once every hour while we were there, but it was 100 and in direct sun for 10 hours, so apparently the sunscreen was no match.

I can barely walk or lift my arms, so I perched myself within arms reach of bookshelves& coffee, &this is where I'll be for the next 2 days. 😅

P.s. who can spot Winston?

GrilledCheeseSamurai Ouchie! 🌞 3y
squirrelbrain Oof, you can just see it (the sunburn, not Winston) sticking out of the bottom of your trackies ☹️ How frustrating when you were so diligent - hope it feels better soon... 3y
Rachel.Rencher @squirrelbrain That would be bad if Winston were in my sweats right now. 😂 Haha thank you, I'm practically bathing in aloe so hopefully it'll heal quickly. 3y

Crazeedi Oh my so painful! Lots of aloe and maybe some antibiotic creme on the worst of it? And I spy Winston!! 3y

LibrarianJen Sounds weird but if there is still heat radiating off of the burned areas brew some dark tea (earl grey works) and then dip a washcloth in the tea once it‘s cooled and rub it on the area. You can even apply the teabags directly to your skin. 3y
Rachel.Rencher @Crazeedi Oh I didn't think of that! Thank you ❤ 3y
Rachel.Rencher @Cortg Thank you ❤❤ 3y
Rachel.Rencher @LibrarianJen Totally not weird! I'm open to trying anything. Yeah it's weird because the burns are hot but I'm also freezing, and I have a ton of black tea bags. Thanks for the tip.❤ 3y
julesG I second what @LibrarianJen wrote. You could apply quark too. It's what they do at the rehab to avoid inflammation after knee or hip replacement surgery. Apply, "enjoy" for 20-30min, rinse off with lukewarm water. 3y
Buechersuechtling 🙋🏽‍♀️ Meeeeee‼️😂 I hope it was a good festival anyway and that your sunburn will get better soon. 3y
julesG I wouldn't use antibiotic cream - overuse of antibiotics isn't good. But some hydrocortisone cream might be good to keep the inflammation down. Also, aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) helps, or diclophenac. And keep cooling the skin. 3y
julesG Wet (dish) towels, for example. Get the heat out of your skin. But don't use ice packs, you don't want to damage your skin any further. 3y
Rachel.Rencher @julesG Oh wow, thanks for all the tips! I've never really had to deal with a sunburn before, and you guys are being so helpful ❤ 3y
Rachel.Rencher @Buechersuechtling Oh it was so worth it! I saw some of my favorite bands, including Sum 41 who I've been waiting 18 years to see. 😍 3y
julesG My medication makes me especially sensitive to UV rays. I've been lucky this year. No major sunburn yet. But I usually catch too much sun in a spot that I missed to cover in SPF 50+. Last year it was the soles of my feet. Having grown to my ripe old age of 39, I have had a lot of experience with home remedies that work, and with what doesn't. 😉. Hope you feel better soon. Don't forget to drink lots of water. 3y
LibrarianJen I rarely get sunburned but my husband who is full blooded scotch/Irish burns just by thinking about going outside. I‘m always greeting the poor guys sunburns. There‘s something in tea that helps bring the heat out. 3y
Crazeedi @Rachel.Rencher what @LibrarianJen says, definitely teabags for the burn too!! 3y
Crazeedi @Rachel.Rencher the hydrocortisone creme is probably a better idea as @julesG says!! 3y

I revised my caption from earlier today. I didn't realize how bitter I had sounded about teaching today, but to be fair my classroom had been ripped apart by another teacher when I got there, and I was still moving furniture when the kids arrived. I also got cussed out by a kid 2x today, so I was feeling pretty done at that point. 😅

Anyway, I'm reading before bed and hoping that tomorrow is a better day. Good night, littens! 🌛

Whoa. I LOVE where this second instalment took this story. Like, in every way possible. In this book, we get to dive deeper into Alosa‘s siren heritage, her family life, and her relations with her crew. We also get an epic treasure hunt and sea battles and awesomeness of epic proportions. Fantastic conclusion to the duology.

Read these before giving them as gifts (the person knows), and enjoyed them both! I like that Siren Queen let's us see people/places only referenced in the first, lots of action. The romance was more of a slow burn than I expected but I like that they had to work through the shifted power dynamic from Pirate King and sort out attraction as a means to an end vs genuine affection. Also, cool cover treatments with gloss and texture! 😁
