Remember who you are, what you were made to be. Remember your words.
Home was all I ever wanted.
If I lived anywhere near his bookstore, I would come in every. damn. day. and ask “Excuse me, do you have book six of A Song and Fire and Ice, yet?“
TV producing motherfucker. How about you add “I finished my damn series“ to your resume?
This is my review for a book I just finished reading. Now, I will be waiting for the Winds Of Winter like everyone else. I‘m not ready to let go of this world yet so I will be reading #aknightofthesevenkingdoms next.
Men live their lives trapped in an eternal present, between the mists of memory and the sea of shadow that is all we know of the days to come. Certain moths live their whole lives in a day, yet to them that little span of time must seem as long as years and decades do to us. An oak may live three hundred years, a redwood tree three thousand. To them seasons pass in the flutter of a moth's wing, and past, present, and future are one.
Time is different for a tree than for a man. Sun and soil and water, these are the things a tree understands, not days and years and centuries. For men, time is a river. We are trapped in its flow, hurtling from past to present, always in the same direction. The lives of trees are different. They root and grow and die in one place, and that river does not move them. The oak is the acorn, the acorn is the oak.
Look what came today. Love it! This lovely t-shirt @Clwojick designed for me! I was totally not expecting the extras. I ❤ bookmarks! Thank you so much! BTW I love red. Today has felt like Christmas!
“She wants fire, and Dorne sent her mud. You could make a poultice out of mud to cool a fever. You could plant seeds in mud and grow a crop to feed your children. Mud would nourish you, where fire would only consume you, but fools and children and young girls would choose fire every time.”
All caught up and I liked this one a lot! Tyrion‘s plot was super exciting and different from the show so it felt fresh. I ended up loving Quentyn Martell. Unfortunately, he got exactly what he went to Meereen for: “Fire and blood.” Finally, it is buckwild to me that Arya has these warg-like abilities that weren‘t even mentioned in the show! I guess I‘ll read the prequel while waiting for The Winds of Winter since GRRM is taking his sweet time.
I stopped reading this series when the show started to consume my evening reading time and then time spent in conversation ...and finally all the time in debate and fan theory discussion (sigh), but I find myself becoming nostalgic for the good ole days of GoT. Decided to pick up where I left off.
I kind of love that I finished reading A Dance with Dragons while in the air. The characters have become so much more complex. The protagonists have many dimensions and while you love to root for them, some of their decisions make you uncomfortable. The “villains” are just as interesting, sometimes more, and at times you find yourself kinda rooting for them too! I‘m thrilled there are two more installments coming out.. not soon enough!
This book leaves a lot of cliffhangers. Most were summed up in the show, except that season 5 and book 5 seem to deviate in a lot of places. It makes me wonder if some of characters in the books that are not in the show come to a dead end. Valar Morghulis 🐺🐉🦁
#neverendingseries #GrowUp #BBRC @LibrarianRyan
#GoTcad @BookwormM I'm ready for our discussion when ever you and the rest are.
First book for #BFCr3 @wanderinglynn
I was listening to the tagged book when I went into my second bedroom (aka library) looking for my kitten who had become mysteriously quiet. And found Marvel snug as a bug behind my books. Love her even if she eventually knocks them out. ☺️
Finally on to the last (available) book! Its been a rocky road. High highs and low lows. Here‘s hoping it ends on a high! And come on, lets get back to Tyrion!
Finally, managed to finish the series. The last two books were boring and dragged a lot but helped me get out an year long reading slump.. struggling to pick the next book as brain is still stuck in the GOT world..
This game is played so much in this book I swear I could almost play it by now. Let‘s get to war! 🐉
My parents caught on to the Crave TV demos of Game of Thrones, found with Rogers Ignite as a new TV setup. That allows Seasons 1 & 2 for free, before the rest needs a subscription. Mom & Dad were okay with skipping on to S5 on sale at Walmart. 😄 I helped them out with S6 & 7 as well. -- That's going faster and somewhat alternative to the reading.. I might wait a bit more here with reading A Dance with Dragon, until Winter does start to arrive. 😜
With #GameOfThrones drawing to a close, I am revisiting the book series. A Dance with Dragons has obvious issues, although perhaps not as bad as the long wait for book 6 makes them seem. My full review - https://everydayshouldbetuesday.wordpress.com/2019/05/14/revisiting-george-r-r-m...
I‘m done!! 🎉🎉🎉
This series was a commitment, with ups and downs, but overall, I enjoyed it. ADWD started out rather terribly, but drew me in about 1/3 of the way through. It was still a slow journey that I probably won‘t repeat.
#seriesread #pop19 #imaginarycreature
#MayScavengerHunt : dog in it (Ramsay‘s hounds), >300 pgs, multiple POV, made into 🎥 (b/c some episodes are as long as a movie!), character dies
Maybe, just maybe, I will finish this book today. 183 pages to go. 🤞🤞
@wanderinglynn would this be able to count towards the #bookfitnesschallenge? I wasn‘t sure if books started before today can be included.
An afternoon training I had today finished early, so I‘m taking some me time with an aperol spritz before I go home. ☺️ I‘m also in one of the Charlotte neighborhoods we are considering moving to, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to check out the vibe. We‘re getting tired of the suburbs.
