Mein Kampf - My Struggle
Mein Kampf - My Struggle: Unabridged Edition of Hitlers Original Book - Four and a Half Years of Struggle Against Lies, Stupidity, and Cowardice | Adolf Hitler
Mein Kampf ("My Struggle") is a political manifesto written by Adolf Hitler. It was his only complete book and became the bible of National Socialism in the German Third Reich. It was published in two volumes, which dated 1925 and 1927. By 1939 it had sold 5,200,000 copies and had been translated into 11 different languages. The first volume, entitled Die Abrechnung ("The Settlement of Accounts," or "Revenge"), was written in 1924 in the Bavarian fortress of Landsberg am Lech. Hitler was imprisoned there after the unsuccessful Beer Hall Putsch of 1923. It describes the world of Hitlers youth, the First World War and the betrayal of Germany in 1918. It also expresses Hitlers Racial ideology. According to Hitler, it was necessary for Germans to occupy themselves not merely with the breeding of cats, dogs and horses - but also care for the health and wellbeing of their own Bloodline. The second volume, entitled Die Nationalsozialistische Bewegung ("The National Socialist Movement"), was written after Hitlers release from prison in December 1924. It outlines the political program of National Socialism and includes the measures that National Socialism must pursue in both gaining power and in exercising it thereafter in the new German Reich. In this book Hitler describes an ideology which according to him must shake the world from its slumber. An ideology which is based on the Eternal Laws of Nature. Here you can notice how the foundations of Social Darwinism have been applied in practice. This book has set a path toward a much higher understanding of the self and of our magnificent destiny as living beings part of this Race on our planet. It shows us that we must not look at nature in terms of good or bad, but in an unfiltered manner. It describes what we must do if we want to survive as a people and as a Race. We have to understand that Nature does not forgive weakness and that the truth and reality is what it is, no matter how bad it may seem or how hard it can portray itself. This book shows the foundations of White Resistance and White Nationalism. It is the foundation and seed for the preservation of our Race. Be advised that this book does not represent the full Racialist ideology, but it is only a foundation as the Origin of Species is a foundation for the Theory of Evolution. James Murphy translation is OFFICIAL NSDAP translation.. NSDAP have paid Murphy to translate Mein Kampf...

I have a degree in history and I had the pleasure to live aboard for 7 years having taken the time to go to Auschwitz. I am a curious reader by nature and love for the most part most biographies. This was interesting as it was literally a swim in the head of pure evil. His complex and often times rambling rants gave me a wee bit more insight to pure evil.

It‘s difficult try to say something about this book, about this man.
I have read it because I really wanted to know why he did what he did, but I think I will never understand that.
I can‘t believe that so many people died because of this man, not only because of course but also of all the followers of his party.
It‘s crazy, and it‘s incredible. How can a man kill so many people?
This is an example of what people can to do, and it‘s very scaring

I would like to say a few words to the members of this community. I love Litsy and the community we share. I have had some time to think and I would like to share my thoughts with all of you.
⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

BeansPage First off, the "group read" of Mein Kampf is still going to happen so the naysayers and criers for censorship are going to have to square with that on their own terms. I am not forcing anyone to join this "group read". People are doing so of their own volition and out of their own curiosity. I believe that absolutely none of them have any ill-will in their intent. I also believe in less censorship of books not more. 5y
BeansPage Secondly, I would like to apologize to the community as a whole for the blow up caused by this "group read." My intentions were not to do such and I had no idea just how crazy it would get. I had no idea that reading a simple book would cause such madness. It was never my intention to divide our community. I find this very tragic. 5y
BeansPage Thirdly, the situation could have been handled better on both sides this is true. And because of our haste to make our own points, feelings have been hurt on both sides. For this I also apologize. When people come at me the way that they did, I put my wall up and responded in kind. I shouldn't have done that. 5y
See All 22 Comments
BeansPage Fourthly, the term "buddy read" is the term that is used by this community denote a book that is going to be read and discussed online within the community. That, and only that, is the reason why I used that term in the beginning. It was in no way meant to degrade or offend. And it has since been changed. 5y
BeansPage Fifthly, I would also like to apologize for the initial poster as I have been told it was "triggering AF". I only meant it to be lighthearted in nature. But once again I meant no offense. The poster has since been changed with the suggestions made by my fellow community members. Thank you!? 5y
BeansPage Sixthly, some have claimed that this is simply a cry for attention made by me with a directive to stir the proverbial pot. As I have stated many times before, that was not my intention at all, rather simply to read a very challenging book with my friends as was (& is) my intention. 5y
BeansPage Lastly, to BurghBookAddict & company, I thank you for sharing your opinions. Isn't that what freedom is all about? At this point, instead of dividing Litsy, I say that we let bygones be bygones. Let us both be adults and agree to disagree on this matter. Let us move forward in peace. Is this not what Litsy is about? 5y
BeansPage In closing, I hope that we have all learned a great deal from this experience and are able to move forward with greater knowledge in our minds and hearts. "Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it." - Albert Einstein 5y
Alfoster 👏👏👏👏 5y
LapReader Great post. 5y
Birdsong28 👏👏👏 Great points and well made. I understand that it would cause issue but one the other hand unfortunately it is a part of history and to understand one of the worst parts of history this needs to be done. I am glad you are still going ahead with it . 5y
Anitareads 👏👏 Bravo!👏 5y
Soubhiville While I have no interest in reading the book, I understand why others might. If we don‘t learn from history we are doomed to repeat it, right? I am interested in seeing what everyone‘s thoughts are after the read. I also do understand why the original post may have been triggering to some. I see both sides as valid, but don‘t feel someone else‘s views should limit your reading. 5y
Readingismyescape Wonderful post. 👏👏👏 And it is okay for people to have differences of opinion. I applaud your attempt at peacemaking and hope you are successful. Litsy is such a loving and accepting community and I‘d like to see that continue. 💜 5y
TiredLibrarian @TheReadingMermaid Great post. I'm with @Soubhiville in that I don't think I could stomach a read, but I see the value in reading and studying this work. Forewarned is forearmed, we hope. 5y
Andrew65 👏👏👏👏 Don‘t know where I‘ve been, I must have totally missed the furore. Like some others not a book I want to read but respect the right and freedom and democracy that was fought for to read this or any book! 5y
Reggie Oh, @Andrew65 It was last Thursday. I was in Albuquerque, shopping for my #CupidGoesPostal swap. I had just gotten my stuffed mushrooms at The Cheesecake Factory when I scrolled through Litsy that day. I will never forget where I was. 5y
SleepyDragon I don't want to read it either, but as I said earlier, there is a benefit to being familiar with rhe rhetoric and language of propaganda. 5y
Andrew65 @Reggie Don‘t know how I missed it. Been very busy at work is the only explanation. 5y
SleepyDragon Even though I'm not reading it, I'm kind of glad I can follow the group read and see what you guys have to say. It's kind of nice to see a real and challenging academic group endeavor on Litsy instead of just the average social read alongs and book clubs. Though those can be cool, too. Just remember, not all learning experiences are pleasant. 5y
BeansPage @laurenslibrary I was hoping you would see this on your own but I don't believe you have. I hope that you take my comments and my apology to heart. I also hope that we can move forward with peace and understanding in respect of one another. I'm very sorry that you had to make a new account. I do not know who is harassing you, all I can say is please report them. It's uncalled for. Once again I'm sorry and wish you well. 5y

I have a question. One of the books that I am reading this year is none other than Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler😲But I want to get through it and one thing I know is it's better to get through a book with friends then to get through it alone. I also know that I can host a buddy read on this book without judgement here. My question is, would anyone join me in the interest of studying history and the pursuit of knowledge? What do you think? ☺️

Literary_Siren I will. 5y
Victoriahoperose I have never read it and think I may be interested in doing this with you! Let me know the details! 5y
tournevis Sorry. Never.reading it again. Ew 5y

JamieArc I would be interested as well. 5y
BeansPage @Andrea4 maybe this will help us get through it honey 🤗 5y
BeansPage @tournevis I know a lot of people feel that way. I have never read this book so I don't really know exactly what to expect. But like I said I know it's better to do this with friends then it is to do it alone. I'm actually pretty nervous about reading this one 😬 5y
Librarybelle I‘d be interested. 5y
litenthusiast I think I would be interested as well. I've never read it either. 5y
RJHowe I have read it and might well join you to read it again. It has been a while. For fuller picture his unpublished second book is also insightful. 5y
Andrea4 I would try as it's on the list...and if I have to bail, well, I have to bail. 5y
RaimeyGallant I'm planning on reading this, but I won't have time soon. Looking forward to your review! 5y
BeansPage @Literary_Siren @Victoriahoperose @JamieArc @Librarybelle @litenthusiast @RJHowe @Andrea4 @RaimeyGallant I was thinking of doing this buddy read in March of this year. What do you guys think? Would that give you guys enough time to get a hold of a copy? 5y
Victoriahoperose That should work for me 5y
litenthusiast It works for me. 5y
RaimeyGallant It's actually this year that's tight for me. Odd excuse, but the pressure is real. 5y
Andrea4 See no reason why not. 5y
tournevis @TheReadingMermaid I absolutely agree that reading along with someone else is best, because OMG it is hard! The undiagnosed self-loathing, the self-delusion, the masculinist overcompensation, the nationalist paranoia, the absolute, disgusting anti-semitism (and also anti-Other in general). It's painful. 5y
tournevis @TheReadingMermaid Does my comment constitute a spoiler? 😋 5y
BeansPage @tournevis I bet it is. But I have my best armor on and my motto is "I fear no book!" So I think I'm ready to take this challenge on. ?? 5y
BeansPage @tournevis I would put the spoiler mark on it just in case but I think we all kind of know what we're getting into here LOL 😋 5y
tournevis @TheReadingMermaid Good luck to you all for tackling it. You guys are stronger than me. I couldn't look at it again. 5y
Linear No, but that's because it sounds like work lol. And I'm so ready to be lazy, I have a few more weeks and I can take a brain break. Good luck though 5y
WhatThePuck I'd do it! 🙋🙋💗 5y
Literary_Siren That should be fine. Just so we are all on the same page(pun intended), which version are we reading? 5y
BeansPage @Literary_Siren what a good question! Let's do this one please: Mein Kampf: Vol. I and Vol. II https://www.amazon.com/dp/1682044904/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PV.mCb6ZYQXKM 5y
WhatThePuck 👌👌 5y
Literary_Siren Sounds good! 5y
JamieArc @TheReadingMermaid works for me too! A buddy read of this will be good - better to have people to rant to! 5y
BeansPage @JamieArc my thoughts exactly 😁 5y
bookseller_cate This book has been vaguely on my TBR list for a while, mostly because I want to understand the period a bit more. But this year (excepting my #lesmiz365 project), I‘ve promised myself to only read one book at a time, so a read-a-long wouldn‘t work for me just now. But I will follow the rest of you with interest. 5y
RJHowe I‘m in. Is there a start date? 5y
BeansPage @RJHowe we are going to do this buddy read in March. So starting March 1st. 😉 5y

Today at work we had a damaged copy of Mein Kampf sitting on the table in the breakroom. (I work in a bookstore and we occasionally have damaged books laying around in the back.) The whole time I was back there for my lunch break I kept witnessing coworkers come in, see it, and go "uuugghhh."

I am taking a class on the history of the holocaust and the required reading said Hitler was "savvy." I think there are some other, more colorful, adjectives I would use to describe him before savvy.

I can't say this book was anything better than horrible due to the very nature of the evil Adolf Hitler was. Genius? Yes, but truth is it take a moment to decide to even add the book. In the nature of lit. , this is a part of history and at the core of the fight of the very bookban that's being fought against now.

I'm about to begin my conversation with Hitler in a minute or so. A man who started the world war II that killed up to 60 millions souls. But first let me post this one since I'm a bit excited to know this apps from fb page. ~yosh!
