Double Sin and Other Stories
Double Sin and Other Stories | Agatha Christie
15 posts | 16 read | 10 to read
In one of London's most elegant shops, a decorative doll in green velvet adopts some rather human, and sinister, traits. . . . A country gentleman is questioned about a murder that has yet to be committed. . . . While summoning spirits, a medium is drawn closer to the world of the dead than she ever imagined possible. . . . In a small country church, a dying man's last word, sanctuary, becomes both an elegy and a clue to a crime. Only the Queen of Mystery could have conceived such delicious treats for suspense lovers. Only the inimitable Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple could solve them with such chilling perfection.

Nice collection of short stories showing Agatha‘s range, some extraordinary and some just meh. Was nice to see how she could wrap these multiple stories up with such mystery so quickly. Good way to read in quick pieces too. Though it would‘ve been nice to have more even stories. One was roughly 40 pages, the next 10. She has the range darling. This rating is more because nothing stood out. #whodunit

Somebody likes the smell of old library books. Kept trying to turn the page on me.
This short book is complied of 8 short mystery stories, some with Hercule Poirot, some with Ms Marple and some without either. Halfway through and only one has really stood out to me. #whodunit

Another Christie short story collection. Two of these are Miss Marple, 4 are Poirot, & 2 are random & weird. The Marple & Poirot are good, especially a longer one about finding a stolen ruby. #scarathlon @Clwojick #teamslaughter 121 pts

I decided to go with a short story to get my one A.C. book in for the month, since I have a huge stack of other books to read for #Scarathlon2020 — Poirot really is so insufferable most of the time, and don‘t let me get started on Hastings! Overall, not bad but very forgettable. 3⭐️

Couldn‘t get into it! After Father Brown and Sherlock, just couldn‘t do a Poirot short story. Trying a Christie novel next.

Reading Agatha Christie at the Fogg Museum in good company - John Singer Sargent‘s sister Violet painted here reading at breakfast while peeling an orange. So many of memories of lovely places I‘ve enjoyed a good book!

Ruthiella I do like it when I can remember exactly where I was reading a certain book! 😀 4y

Once again @Robothugs proves how much of an amazing human & wonderful friend she is. She saw this while out and thought I would love it, so she bought it and sent it to me, on the other side of the world! Thank you so so much, this made my day. And you did good, I've never heard of this one let alone have it in my collection! 😘😘😘😘💙💙💙💙❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍👍💜💜💜💜💚💚💚💚💛💛💛💛 #christiescrimeclub #jenappreciationclub

I listened to this audiobook at night because I've had trouble sleeping. It's a mix of short stories (Poirot, Miss Marple, and some stand alone). They were good, some better than others.
One of the stories was The Dressmaker's Doll which is creepy listening to at night when you're trying to fall asleep. 🤤

Today I'm a bit brainfoggy, but I'll try reading. At least it's short stories, so it should be easier to get through.

An enjoyable selection of short stories, some with Poirot, some Marple, some with neither. I listened to this, and every other story had a different narrator, which was good for helping me keep track of where I was. Decent, good read, nothing earth-shattering. Book #5 for the #readathon.

On cup number two. Sophia and I are girding our loins, as it were, for a long day. Once I finish catching up here and on Instagram, I'll pause Double Sin (audio) and I'll be starting The Woman in Black.

Matilda That is the greatest mug! 7y
Readerann Ha ha. Love the mug! Since I'm Ann on Goodreads. I assumed you'd know who I was when I followed you here. That makes no logical sense, now that I think about it! This is a fun app. I could see myself becoming obsessed. Off to walk the dog now as I'm sleepy after reading for just one hour 😟 7y
LauraBrook @Readerann Hah! I thought it might be you at first, but then I didn't look into it any more. Hi there, trusty RAT buddy! 😘😘😘😘😘 Hope you have a nice walk with the dog. 7y
LauraBrook @Matilda Thanks! The other side says "Have I given any indication at all that I care?" I got it from Peachy Apricot on Etsy. #goldengirls4lyfe 7y
