Thanks for the tag @lilikmarcus ! I‘ve been looking for an excuse to share this picture my sister took of me reading at the bottom of Grand Canyon by the Colorado River. We were there about 2 weeks ago & I have revisited this moment several times since!

so-so

I love reading books set where I‘m going when I travel & this story of people rafting Colorado River fit the bill. I enjoyed their adventure but the character development fell a little flat for me by the end.
🐴 My sisters & I rode mules down Grand Canyon last week. This book was also carried by mule to the bottom & was also soaked with rain. One week ago today I went to Boat Beach for some pics & lucked out when some rafters pulled up!

1️⃣ I‘m a teacher and school is going to be cancelled this week. My superintendent just signed a petition to our state legislature to prepare for an 8-20 week school closure.
2️⃣ Coincidently my husband had stocked up on tp a week before it became a popular item.
3️⃣ I‘m going to wear a new pair of St. Patrick‘s Day socks. They have a T-Rex & say ST. PAT-T-REX.

Andrew65 @PaperbackPirate Thanks, also more worrying with children with underlying conditions and staff too, and because can be minor symptoms in children they end up spreading it. Strict policy in place of starting to cough (continuous) or temperature children sent home straight away to self isolate for a week in line with government strategy. 4y

PaperbackPirate @Andrew65 Any closures yet? Looks like in my state they are going to close for the rest of the school year. I think we‘ll know by tonight. 4y

Inspired by the raging creek in my backyard (it‘s well over its banks), I decided to read this one about a raft trip through the Grand Canyon. I also spent some time picking as many books off the floor of the walkout basement as possible since Florence (now downgraded to a tropical depression) has decided to stall out over top of us leaving us at extreme risk for flooding. 🤬

I can't think of a scenario more horrifying to me than white-water rafing in the 115-degree heat for two weeks with a bunch of strangers. Never ever ever would I want to do this. But apparently I enjoy reading about it because I loved this book SO MUCH.
