The sequel to These Old Shades, this is one is even more fun. Vidal and Mary are a perfect example of the (probably very dangerous for the female psyche) romance trope of the rake tamed by the love of a good woman. Even more enjoyable was the return of the irrepressible Leonie and her very grand Monseigneur. #romantsy

didn‘t realize this book was written in 1930s bc of the updated cover.
We have Dominic, a rogue so bad, he‘s nicknamed the devil‘s cub. He wants to run off with Mary‘s sister and she doesn‘t want her sister ruined. She takes her sisters place to protect her, and he does not take being tricked lightly.
honestly wish it focused more on just them and not all family members hunting them down, but alas, & hated that its written in 3rd person

Reread an old favourite this weekend. Still love it. They‘ve updated the cover to this on for my kindle edition- like the idea, hate the fact that they‘ve got a blonde on the cover when Mary is a brunette...

I read These Old Shades for #LMPBC last month, so I thought I would pick up this one as it involves some of the same characters - basically, it's the next generation as the duke's son is in his 20s & just as much of a rake as his father was before him. I liked this one better than Shades - the pacing here is more even, the dialogue is snappy, & the duke just omniscient enough to keep things lively. Definitely recommend this one to my other ⬇️

Call me crazy, but I wouldn't call this a "Daily Deal." Is this a mistake or some bizarre new strategy that Amazon is throwing at the wall to see if it sticks? I have bought one or two Heyer Kindle books, so does Amazon think I will be tempted because they dropped the price two whole dollars to $11.00??? WTH??

The sequel to These Old Shades, Devil's Cub is a delight from start to finish. You don't need to have read the first to understand the second though it will add to your enjoyment! The Duke of Avon and his wife now have a son who is just as much of a trouble maker as the father. He ends up needing to leave the country for awhile after a duel gone bad. In a fit of pique he takes a girl with him to teach her a lesson, only he takes the wrong sister!
