Gaaaah I'm so mad.
I started this book like "omg yes an Ali McNamara book, I'm gonna love it!" and finished it like "omg thank god I'm done".

So boring. The premises were super good, don't get me wrong, but then it just turned into something old and already seen/heard of and NAH.
Unfortunately, not my cup of tea.

I'm still stuck with my university text books, so nothing too exciting, BUT I'm really liking them nonetheless!

Hello readers! Today I finally finished reading the book you see on the left, which was a uni read as I had already told you and I started reading this other one in the right (always about the publishing industry, specifically the graphic side of it) and I'm really enjoying it so far! It's very informative without being boring, I'd say it's funny, to be honest. The writer did a great job with it.

Reading this book for university. It's about the history of the publishing industry in Italy from 1861 to our current days. It's very detailed and helpful although very slow as well, due to all the dates and percentages and whatnot.

Are you familiar with books explaining or telling you about the publishing industry in your country?

PROPHECIES.

?Carve the Mark
Fates are assigned at birth by an oracle.

?The House of Night
There are prophetesses here!

?Good Omens
The epithet of "prophecy": "the nice and accurate prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch".

?Girls of Paper and Fire
Birth Pendants are forged during the Birth Blessing and at 18 they'll reveal a word that will determine the fate of the owner.

➡️Do you like prophecies? In which books did you find them?

Some days ago I bought The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth.
Funny thing is: I still have to read Carve The Mark.

EDIT: Jess from the future (July 6th 2021) has read both and has neither hated nor enjoyed them. Life is hard.

What was your June's favorite?
Mine definitely was The Heir by Kiera Cass!
Eadlyn is such a drama queen and a badass at the same time. I love her. Way more than her mom!

EDIT (July 6th 2021): The Heir was awesome, can't say the same for The Crown. My god I wanna rewrite that ending.

Linear I javent read the spin offs but i read the originals. I hear most people dont like the second set as much and i havent brought myself to try them. 6y
jessthebookslover @Linear yes, that's correct. Many tend to dislike this second set a lot more, but since I couldn't stand America, I loved this one (THE HEIR) much better than the first set. And I wanted to underline THE HEIR cause I'm gonna re write The Crown in my next project 😂🙈 I gave it a 3/5⭐ on Goodreads only for Eadlyn and someone else that I'm not gonna mention. 6y

Are you a subscriber?
I only do single purchases cause they're really expensive, in that way I can pick only the boxes that resonate with me the most.
If you bought this one, what was your favorite item? Mine is the book sleeve of course 😂 I desperately needed it.

We're already half way through May.
I think I read 2 or 3 books so far and one of them is the one you see above tagged, Dreams of Gods and Monsters!
I still feel empty even if I finished it some days ago, just because I know that I won't read about Karou and Akiva and Liraz and Zuzana and anyone else from that world anymore.
What's a trilogy or series you weren't prepared to say goodbye to?

EDIT (July 6th 2021): 3 YEARS AGO?!? ALREADY?!?!!

Yup.
What's one of your cover buys?

Sara never fails to surprise me.
With a completely new story, she leaves the dystopian world for a sci-fi one.
And she nails it again, although I didn't fully enjoy the many references to the Black Tiger series, her previous and first work.
But despite all this, I loved this book and its story, Lark and Kalen have a place in my heart ❤.

Compelling, fast paced and with a whole new concept: the story is told through the eyes of teddy bears. Despite the title, this is NOT a book for children. Involves romance, stalking and murder. Highly developed and structured. Amazingly well written!

Being done with exams leaves me with plenty of time to read and review some of the books I was sent over these past months. Right now, I'm reading Shadow of The Mark by Leigh Fallon, sequel to The Carrier of The Mark. Unfortunately we only have the first two books, the third one wasn't published.
Then I'll be reading another book, but I can't tell you anything about it, and I'm reviewing White Dawn by Sara Baysinger which is amazing!
