I‘m really enjoying the story line but I definitely feel it could have been done without all these weird incest vibes 🥲 I‘m so excited for when it‘s no longer a thing 🙃 Onto the 3rd book!

The Red Scrolls of Magic | Cassandra Clare, Wesley Chu

This definitely had its moments, especially in the development of Alec as a character and in showing his commitment to Magnus. But the prose was often so weak, and Magnus, an immortal being with centuries of wisdom and experience, came off as TSTL. I had hoped to be reminded of why I love this series but mostly I was reminded of why I stopped reading it. 😔

Crinoline_Laphroaig I like that, you get Alec's point of view. He's still insecure but starting to come into his own. Plus he gets to be the badass warrior in this one. You can definitely see the foreshadowing of future problems. Mostly I love it for the fun of traveling in Magnus Bane style. 1mo

City of Ashes | Cassandra Clare

It's been 9 years since I read the first book in this series, City of Bones. I felt I was able to get back into the world with no problems. I like the world of the shadow hunters. It's hard to explain what is going on here, but the book ended on an epic battle that was fun to read. We get a lot more of Jace in this series, and Simon too.
