Wuthering Heights | Emily Bront
post image

Has anybody read this? Any thoughts about it?

Librarybelle Welcome, @elliebookmaster ! I‘ve read Wuthering Heights. I loved it, but not because of the characters (they‘re absolutely horrid), but I love the gloomy atmosphere of the book. Emily Bronte could bring the creep factor in without writing a gothic novel! 4y
sprainedbrain Hi, Ellie! I‘ve read it and agree with @Librarybelle: the characters are all horrible but it‘s perfectly gothic and gloomy, and so well-written! 4y

GingerAntics I tried reading it once, but a bunch of other crazy stuff was happening in the point of my life and I don‘t remember anything other than a description of a bed...I think it was a bed. The mental image is really clear, but really dark, in my mind. 4y
wanderinglynn Thanks @Chrissyreadit ☺️ Welcome to Litsy @elliebookmaster 👋🏻 I read it (a long time ago) & it was not my cup of tea. I‘m not one for gothic romances. 4y
hermyknee No— I think I started it once but didn‘t love it the way I loved Charlotte Brontë‘s Jane Eyre ♥️ I don‘t recall ever finishing it. 4y
LibrarianRyan @elliebookmaster Ello😁. Tried and was way to slow for me. 4y
IhoardBOOKS I loved the atmosphere for it but don't remember much about it other than that anymore. Been a long time since I read it. 4y
BookishMarginalia Have started it but never gotten far. 4y
BookwormAHN Welcome to Litsy 😸 I've started it but never gotten very far. It's really different than the movies. 4y
Blaire Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit . I read this book I‘m high school so my memory of it is shaky. 4y

Mitch Read this back in school. Loved the BBC adaptation 👍🏼 4y
tdrosebud Welcome to Litsy! As for this book, I didn't like it. Took me 2 years to read because at the time I just couldn't leave books unfinished. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Thanks for the shout-out @Chrissyreadit! Glad to have you along @elliebookmaster!! The Brontes aren't for me - I get impatient with characters who make their own problems and then dramatically complain about them - but many, many people love them, so I think it's definitely worth giving this one a try, just to see if it's a good match for you!! 4y
Meaw_catlady Welcome to litsy!!!! Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit !!! 🖤 4y
Jess Welcome! So I got through half of it and put it down. I need to get back to it at some point. 4y
Mariposa_Bookworm My favorite book of all time! 4y
zezeki Welcome! I personally didn't like this one, the characters are just awful, but I know a lot of people love it because its darkness and the love story. 4y

UwannaPublishme Welcome to Litsy! 👋🏻🎉📚I‘m not a big fan of the Brontes myself, but I do love many other classics. 4y
CarolynM Welcome to Litsy🌼 I read Wuthering Heights when I was 13 and loved it. I suspect you have to be at an age where all that passion and melodrama seems perfectly reasonable. 4y
ladym30 Welcome to Litsy!!❤️ 4y
Palimpsest Welcome to Litsy! I‘m personally not a fan of this book. I think I was disappointed because so many people love it and I just couldn‘t see what there is to love. Most of the characters are contemptible. I love the song Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush though, haha. Personally I wouldn‘t call it much of a love story, more like revenge story. However, I adore Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë. 4y
MicrobeMom @Chrissyreadit thanks for the tag! Welcome to Litsy! It is a great safe place! I have read it. I liked it a lot but found it very dark. 4y
BethM Welcome! Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit ! 4y
Eggs Welcome to Litsy 🥳📚🥳 @elliebookmaster !! I remember liking Jane Eyre. I did read Wuthering but don‘t recall my feelings about it (it was 50+ years ago 😳) 4y
Deifio Welcome to Litsy! I read it and liked it. But it does feature lots of psychological violence. Basically they're all crazy in this book. I myself wouldn't read it during this already difficult time. I have opted for light reads now because the news is dark enough 4y
sudi Welcome to Litsy 😊. I did read this one on serial reader, i made the assumption that i wouldn't like it but i did after a while. For a book with so many terrible characters i was surprised that i did 😄 4y
Bookzombie Welcome to Litsy! I read this in high school and remember liking it. That was a long time ago though. Thanks for the tag @Chrissyreadit ! 4y
