I just picked this one up for a dollar a couple weeks ago. I've never read anything by him except for Charlie and Matilda. Going to try a few tonight. At least the three suggested by gibblr . #roalddahlday #roalddahl100

gibblr Nice! Interested to hear what you think... 8y
quirkyreader Was the cover done by Edward Gorey? It kind of looks Goreyish. 8y

Shadow Show: Stories In Celebration of Ray Bradbury | Neil Gaiman, Charles Yu, Joe Hill, Dave Eggers, Harlan Ellison, Sam Weller, Alice Hoffman, Mort Castle, Jason Ciaramella, Audrey Niffeneffer

This cover has a bunch of little Bradbury Easter eggs. IDW put out 5 issues that adapted some of the works from the short story collection. They stuck with the bigger name authors for the comic but I think some of the others would have worked better in this format. Cover art by C.P. Wilson III.

I really liked this collection of Bradbury inspired short stories. Its kind of like a tribute album in book form.

I put music on while reading about half the time. Usually it's this podcast when I do. It really adds atmosphere while not distracting me with vocals or even melodies. It hasn't been updated in a while but there are hours of episodes available. Aphex Twin (ambient works), Brian Eno, Harold Budd, and Sunn O))) are all great to read with too. #booksandmusic

Mayread This sounds great, thanks! 8y

Recent acquisitions. Half new, half used.

BekahB Ohhhh that's my favorite Klosterman book! I need to pull Trees out from my bookshelf. It's been sitting unread for a few months. 8y
barry @BekahB I read Eating The Dinosaur about a year ago and really liked it. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for this one in second hand shops since then. Finally found one in good condition. Do read Trees! Second arc comes out in trade soon. 8y

I wish all books came with bound bookmarks. I like the way they dangle there. #bookmark #bookfetish

BekahB Yes! I love nice hardback books that have ribbon bookmarks. I have to make sure the ends are tucked under the book so my cats don't shred them 😄 8y
catsuit_mango I had already selected a bookmark to read the 1 Volume when I realised it had a pretty ribbon bookmark ! 7y

Look what came today! Hip Hop Family Tree is like a Ken Burns documentary spanning the entire history of hiphop in comic book form. Got that Harry Potter book too.

Even though it's no longer canon, this little tidbit will never leave my brain. I'm not sure I'll be finishing this.

This book and Kate Beaton's first collection really exposed the gaps in my knowledge of history and literature but I still found them quite funny.

I'm going to take a little break from King and The Dark Tower at this point. There are other worlds than these and before I start in on Wolves of the Calla I plan to read a few more of what are considered the "secondary texts". Any suggestions as to what is vital and what isn't?

Just finished putting these four in my head right in a row. Wow! I don't know why I waited so long to pick up The Gunslinger but glad I finally did. I had to keep going after each one ended. Apparently some people aren't too keen on Wizard and Glass but I thought it was fantastic.

Between novels I'll usually read a graphic novel/comics or a couple short stories. They make a good palette cleanser. 😉

Dooplum I do the same thing! It's also pretty perfect for reading slumps. 8y
