My book, Polar Bears: Survival on the Ice comes out December 31 and is available for pre-order!

With gorgeous art by Zack Giallongo, this middle grade graphic novel follows a mother polar bear and her two cubs as they learn about life in the Arctic. It's chock full of humor and education about polar bear biology and behavior. So proud to be part of this celebrated series!

This book is about a man who finds himself in a world no longer his own all because of a magic box that does science. It's ridiculous and suspenseful and a lot of fun. #scifi

Homegoing: A novel | Yaa Gyasi

A novel that spans 300 years and captures the impact on slavery through eight generations sounds daunting but it's exquisitely written and engrossing, each chapter like an interlocking short story. #heartbreaking

Soft City | Pushwagner
post image

Soft City has a familiar mid-century anxiety about consumerism and conformism but it also gets to the root of our desire for "softness" and safety. Here our desire to keep our minds away from violence directly results in the perpetuation of violence in the world. #comics #art

"Even now, you think that's where this is going?" a character asks, but we can't be blamed for forgetting this is a down to earth story with rich, believable characters because it's so damn suspenseful. This is the best novel I've read in a while. Tightly constructed and full of sumptuous paragraphs, a book about many things, and how desperately we need to treat autistic children as people instead of problems. #family #cults #camp

The Oven | Sophie Goldstein

Pickpick

Darker than its bright colors suggest, The Oven is a short sci-fi story about a couple who escapes one society only to be tested by a new one. #comics

Ohboycomics I thought this book had an excellent premise, and was executed well! (edited) 7y

Pickpick

Using the Yorkshire Ripper as a touchstone, this comic skillfully moves from personal trauma to probing questions about a society that accepts misogyny and violence against women. Una is just as comfortable using silence and poetic images as she is statistics and history to fight against complacency and victim-shaming, toward listening.

Panther is a beautiful, funny, stirring, and intensely creepy comic about a young girl and a seductive monster. It is the Cat in the Hat by way of Kafka with the dualism of Lolita's Humbert and Quilty. #weird #disturbing #unforgettable #comics

...it is important that we learn to distinguish between mysteries and secrets. Mysteries precede humankind, envelop us and draw us forward into exploration and wonder. Secrets are the work of humankind, a covert and often insidious way to gather, withhold, or impose power. Do not confuse the pursuit of one with the manipulation of the other.
