A pretty alright memoir. It was interesting reading the author's complicated relationship with her mom, trying to connect with her Japanese relatives, harassment working in hostess bars, and mental health struggles. The whole thing reads a bit like a collection of webcomics about the author's life, some of which are one-off comics and others follow an extended narrative. I felt like that aspect didn't work well. #NonfictionComic #GraphicMemoir?

Big disappointment 😢 I was expecting a memoir about how the author discovered her Japanese roots, but it turned out as a comic book about a trip to Japan and nothing more.
