Went by my local library today. It doesn't exist on litsy but it's named after the book Kimen by Tarjei Vesaas. It has a very nice area to read newspapers and magazines 🤩

Attended a work seminar about school libraries today in Trondheim. Very interesting seminar and I love Trondheim folkebibliotek! They have a seed library where you can borrow seeds and grow your own garden for free. You just have to promise to return some seeds from your own garden in the autumn! #litsyloveslibraries

Last day of my summer vacation ?. Needed something EASY to read. I was in a hurry and the book was available in the library app. Went into it blind, it's good but the theme is more serious than I thought! It was a good thing that I went past this singn. It says: "Everything is going to be fine" ?

Pickpick

I recommend this craphic novel based on Knut Hamsun's novel Hunger - Sult. The drawings are beautiful and based on historic sites and buildings in Kristiania (Oslo) in the late 1800s. I think Ernsten's drawings bring out the emotions that Knut Hamsun wanted to convey. It makes this classic more easily accessible to a wider audience. #graphicnovel #norwegian #norway

This must be one of the coolest names for an author: Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson, which is translated Bear Star Bear Son ? ? He wrote Norway‘s national anthem and received the Nobel prize in Literature in 1903. Bjørnson was an opponent of the death penalty all his life, and he became a member of the first Nobel Peace Prize Committee, appointed in 1897.

I was just going to take a sneak peek at my local thrift store. Ended up with this 🤪 I love old books. The craftsmanship, the real leather and gold, even the smell 🤣 What was very special was that I found a picture and a biography of my great-grandfather in one of the books. I've never seen a picture of him, talk about coincidence!

I‘m struggling to finish this book. Mostly because I have a two year old who absolutely hates that I read. He wants all the attention! Also because the author uses very long sentences, almost no dividing into paragraphs and no quotation marks. The Norwegian teacher in me wants to find a red pen and rewrite, the other “holiday-person” just want to say “Shut up! Enjoy the book” 😅

AnneCecilie Må innrømme at jeg tenkte ikke så mye på det mens jeg leste denne, men så er jeg selv dårlig på tegnsetting, og har gjerne lange setninger selv. 3mo
Siri_reads @AnneCecilie Jeg har sikkert jobbet for lenge som norsklærer. Henger meg mye opp i tegnsettingen merker jeg. Yrkesskade ? 3mo

I didn‘t have time for an #audiowalk today but took a trip to my favourite outdoor museum, Maihaugen in Lillehammer. This is Garmo Stave Church built circa 1150. The church is built entirely out of timber and it‘s still in use. I just love the pond with water lilies 🤩

This was my reading spot today. We are currently enjoying our holiday at the cabin of my parents. Here there is no running water nor electricity and it is like entering a time capsule where the clock stopped in 1988. The children have an ipad ban and they play in the water and build a cabin of driftwood. Fingers crossed the sun will keep shining and the children not be fighting 😅

Loved listening to this book! Half of the book is written in “kebab-Norwegian” a Multiethnolect (mixture between Norwegian, Spanish, Kurdish, Arabic, Pashto, Somali, Persian, Urdu, Punjabi) so I found it hard to read but enjoyed listening to! Used to teach children speaking that language so it was a little bit like coming home 😉

My current read. Will be published in English soon. Our Street is about two young boys who grow up as Norwegian-born children of first-generation immigrants. In the same apartment block in Tante Ulrikke's street in Stovner Oslo. Mo (Mohammed) and the equally old Jamal live two different lives. The story of the two main characters runs like two parallel stories in the book, conveyed by the youth themselves, in their own language. #immigration

From the sky, Barrøy looks like a footprint in the sea, with some crooked trees in the west. There is just that no one has seen Barrøy from heaven before, except for the bombers, who did not know what they saw, and our Lord, who does not seem to have any purpose in this trail he has created in the sea. Halfway though the book and are taking a break to do some research. The story is based on real events in Norway during WWII. MS Rigel- The ship mentioned in the book was used as a German prisoner of war (POW) transport during World War II, and was sunk by British Fleet Air Arm aircraft off Norway on 27 November 1944 with more than 2,500 dead, mostly POWs. That is 1000 more casualties than the Titanic shipwreck!
