Wow, my master degree was so busy I went quiet for almost 2 months! But I'm back with an awesome indie fantasy book. It's funny, unique characters and a retelling of my favorite fairy tale! It's also a great mystery book. So this book is amazing for almost everyone, so please read it :D

Before reading, I read that the first half is slow and that's true. But I don't think it's boring. There is just a lot of worldbuilding. And Sanderson is setting up for events, but that takes time. Maybe it was a bit too realistic, as a book at one point needs to get going. But the second half was awesome and made all the slow worldbuilding worth it. I loved the different characters, but I'm a bit sad they didn't come together yet.

TrishB Loved this one 👍🏻 6y

Is #LitsyAfterDark still continuing? So many people reading ahead and/or dropping it! Yesterday I read until chapter 10 and so far it's a bit slow. The mask thing is a bit weird though. I think I could survive with a mask on my face, if that's the worst that will happen... Especially if it happens to everyone.

@jpmcwisemorgan (and everyone else participating).

julesG Yep. Still going on, as far as I know. @DGRachel finished early. I'm somewhere around chapter 25. I'm struggling. I try to get a chapter done before I read anything else. I know we wanted to stretch this over several weeks, but I don't want to stretch it out that much. 6y
HOTPock3tt I was reading this and it was taking forever too. Although I want part of the Litsy read. Man it was a slooww book 😔 6y
jpmcwisemorgan Yes, it‘s still happening. Today starts week two so I‘ll post later today so we have a chance to discuss what we‘ve read so far! 6y
IljaRianca @jpmcwisemorgan great! I was already afraid I missed that post 😅 6y

My first Readathon and I made the 24 hours in total! I dnf add the last 2 books though. They are a sequel and I am not interested enough to read that.

I realized I don't have a reading buddy... I don't know anyone interested in reading as a hobby. Luckily I have all the great people from Litsy and my online book clubs ❤

This was easily the best book in the series. The characters had much more personality then in the previous books. There was a bit more action, while still maintaining the romance and I liked that more. It takes some time to get through the second book, but after that The One has an amazing ending. I wish Kiera started at this level of writing. All in all I enjoyed the series while doing my Readathon!

I'm at 13h, 25m and 59s in total. My stopwatch stopped a few times, but luckily I got the screenshots! Enjoying the third book of The Selection Series and I think it'll be the best book in the entire series.

The biggest book I own is this one, I think. Well, it's probably actually one of those collection books of series, but that doesn't count! My ebook is a staggering 1254 pages. I was a bit frightened to start this one, but I'm almost finished. And I like it!

Continuing this series first with the marathon! Didn't have time to read anything yesterday and didn't wake up as early as I wanted. Still need to go 13 hours and 40 minutes!

Liked the first book, disliked the second. Not much hope for the third, but crossing my fingers. Don't want to dnf a series...

This quote is actually what I didn't like about the second book of this serie. The first book was all about the love triangle and I liked it. This second book was the exact same thing, except with fewer candidates. And it became a square. So didn't really like it. If I wanted to read the first book again, I wouldn't have read this book. I'm a bit sick about her whining of needing time by now...

The ending of this is a bit abrupt. I mean, it was a nice, fitting, ending, but they moved towards it within a page! One moment I was in the middle of a story and the next it suddenly ended nicely!

But I recommend this book to anyone who was a lighthearted dystopian love story. I couldn't put it down! It's not the best of the best, but it's a great book in between heavier books.

Really loving the first book so far. Romance is not my typical book, but I just got so into it. It's a bit straightforward, but the writing style makes up for it.

I started this as the first book of the 1001 book challenge. I don't really read classics and want to change that. I only read 4 books of the whole list! It's quite strange! So far it's about a mentally handicapped man of 33 and his family. The story changes from the present to memories of the past and back without any warning, so that makes it difficult to follow.

1. Fairy Tales of Andersen (older one's than tagged book). I loved them as a child. I have these huge books of him, given by my baby sitter that I really loved (got tons of Dutch children and teen books from her).
2. Toy Story!
3. Beautiful Liar. I had to do dance to this when I was forced to participate in the musical by the end of primary school (it's customary here). One of my strongest memories about a song!
4. Someone who didn't do this.

I world give this book 3.5 stars. The story is about 4 siblings who learn the fate of their death. We follow them throughout their lives and learn the impact this knowledge has on their life. It had some cliches, but they were very well played and very well realistic. I don't like all of the sibling's lives, but overall I liked it.

BarbaraTheBibliophage I envy your dry weather. We have had so much heat, rain, and humidity here lately. 6y
IljaRianca @BarbaraTheBibliophage oh no, it's more that I wish it was dry, lol. It's very humid and warm here atm. It's pretty okay now, but a few weeks ago it was 35 degrees celcius. We are not equipped for that here! It's the hottest summer ever measured and for the longest period! 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @IljaRianca Ooooh! Yes, I can imagine. We‘ve had the rainiest summer on record. Hoping the change of season brings some relief for us both! 6y
IljaRianca @BarbaraTheBibliophage wish we could share some of that rain! 6y

Some healthy reading today! So far I think there is some great worldbuilding. Some people say the first half is boring. It doesn't have a lot of action for sure, but the characters are great. The tactical decisions, the people who don't care to learn other cultures (and those who do!) and those who don't care about others... I'm curious to see how it'll all tie together.

Almost 1/3 on the way, but I am a little disappointed. It began with someone telling their date of death, but after that, nothing about it at all. Just living their lives. Tell me it will get better!

Reading this YA book of Niki Cluff, who is active in one of the YA Facebook groups I am participating in. The writing style can't be compared to some great writers, but we all have to start somewhere. And it's still addicting to read. I dislike some of the word choices and she needs an editor. Would still recommend it to anyone that needs a book that's light and fun.

"I knew," she says coldly. "I knew the truth about what happened to him. I always have." Maybe it's just me, but it feels weird to see that in past tense. Normally you say 'I know', right?
