This is so good on audio. I wasn't sure if the format would work, but it 100% does.

I've been savoring these essays for months and finally finished. Marilynne Robinson is fantastic and thoughtful and I loved these essays. This edition also comes with a conversation between her and President Obama, which was a delight.

This one really sucked me in! It hit all my buttons: weird town with secrets, creepy family who everyone is scared of, Nancy Drew-type protagonist.

I thought I was going to love this - magical family dynasty who isn't supposed to use magic but is, plus the Hamptons? Sold. Except I hated the writing and Freya's story line was The Worst. Dnf'd.

Why Not Me? | Mindy Kaling
Pickpick

I love Mindy Kaling,so of course I loved her new essays. I think my favorite was the last, though, and I wish it had been up front. She talks about how important it is to work hard and how weird it is that we talk about hard work but then condemn people as workaholics. Really thought provoking.

Finished this on my commute today. Really great insights into the ways that slavery was justified so that plantation holders like Jefferson could continue to make money. Also has some insights into Jeff as a family man /gaslighter extraordinaire. Must read for anyone interested in the founding fathers, slavery, or capitalism.
