Attended an interesting panel discussing cultural obsession of women and violence. Fascinating and disheartening. I‘ve stacked both books discussed (I‘ll tag other books in comments) and will hopefully be able to read them in the new year. #txbookfest #txbookfestival

DebinHawaii I have that one Disappearing Earth but haven‘t started it yet. 1mo
Suet624 I really liked Disappearing Earth. 1mo
EKonrad Sounds interesting. I loved Savage Appetites, so I‘ll have to check out Disappearing Earth. Thanks for the recommendation! 1mo

Ruta Sepetys at #TXBookFest. She talked a lot about the research she does for her historical fiction.

She told a story of a co-bookclub reading of her book- a group of elementary school kids and a senior center. The school kids got bussed to the senior center to discuss the book. How cool is that?

AmyG That is so wonderful....for both groups. I love that. 1mo
squirrelbrain That sounds like a great idea! 💡 1mo
Lindy What a great book club! 1mo

The #TXBookFest sales tent was out of the book I intended to buy, so I may have bought two others in retaliation. Take that Book People! That‘ll show ya! 🤣📚

About to see Ruta Sepetys! Probably going to buy more books later...

Cinfhen You showed them who‘s the #BookBoss 💜🙌🏻 1mo
Librariana Curious minds wonder: which book did you have the intention to buy? 😊 1mo

Sg1224 Looks good. What did you think of her session?! 1mo
Morr_Books @Sg1224 This session made me love her even more. She held her own even with a few aggressive questions in the Q&A section. 1mo

It‘s bed time, and Sietje is sleeping already.
I love this series, and I can‘t wait to see the author speak at #TXBookFestival2019.

It‘s a good morning for snuggles and starting a new book by an author I saw speak at #TXBookFest last weekend.

saresmoore I just don‘t know how to feel about nipples on covers. 🤷‍♀️ 13mo
Soubhiville @saresmoore lol, I agree. There‘s another cover version I prefer, but this is what my library had. 13mo

I only bought 2 books at this year‘s #TXBookFest. But I added others to my TBR, and put two on hold from the library. These are from the Queer Publishing Today panel, which was probably my favorite of the fest. The authors talked about zines, which really brought back memories! And about the importance of small queer friendly publishing houses. Kaulfus is an Austin local trans author.

kgriffith Part of sort of spearheading the library project at my local equality center has included getting to catalog all of the small press lesbian fic we‘ve had donated from the 90s and before. It‘s an incredible chunk of history. 13mo
BookNAround If you‘re interested in small LGBTQ presses, take a look at Bywater Books out of Ann Arbor. I read and enjoyed two of their books this summer. 13mo
Soubhiville @BookNAround thanks! I‘ll do that! 13mo
Soubhiville @kgriffith that‘s really cool! I read that kind of thing voraciously as it was recommended to me in the early 2000‘s, but I‘m a little less in the loop these days. One of my favorite things about book fests is taking notes of all the authors and book titles spoken of during the panels! 13mo

Ended the book festival with Dr. Tinsley talking about her book (that was partially modeled after her UT course) about Beyoncé and black feminism. I don‘t think her book is out yet, but I‘ll be keeping an eye out for it.

It was so cool meeting up with fellow littens and being surrounded by bookish people this weekend (and the weather was fantastically lovely as well) #txbookfest #atx

Anovelobsession Wish I could have been there for the second day! Maybe next year I can make a weekend of it. 13mo
