When I think of journeys & home, my mind immediately goes to several books, one being The Lord of the Rings. "Short cuts make long delays."

The movie Batman & Robin was not so great. However, the songs in it by Smashing Pumpkins linked below remind me of the cyclical nature of life within tragedy and hope. They, of course, also speak to the Batman origin story.

All I'll say is I'm blown away by how huge an achievement the film is & so emotionally satisfying. In awe of everyone involved, from the creative team to the performers. The screenplay, editing & vfx designs are especially outstanding, all crafted with the intricate care of a watchmaker putting together a timepiece. What a trip it has been.

Cinfhen My kids are eagerly waiting to see this movie!!! I think it‘s tonight‘s big plans!!! Glad the ending lived up to all the anticipation 6mo
rohit-sawant @Cinfhen Awesome! And gosh did it live up to the anticipation. I'm always wary of hype and avoided the trailers and various fan theories. Going in blind is so much more satisfying. 6mo

JillR My son has been to see this today and has talked about nothing else since despite the fact I have no idea what he is talking about.... 😬 6mo
Mdargusch Sounds outstanding! 6mo
stacybmartin The movie was amazing!! 💙 6mo
Reviewsbylola Never even heard of this movie. 😆🙈 6mo
readordierachel I loved it too ❤ 6mo
emilyhaldi My husband has been talking about it nonstop for the past week 🙉 6mo
rohit-sawant @Tanisha_A Hope you catch it soon! 6mo
swishandflick It's a fantastic movie but I don't know if "emotionally satisfying" is how I would describe it, I was crying by the end ? 6mo
rohit-sawant @JillR @emilyhaldi I've been babbling about it likewise. 😆😁 6mo
rohit-sawant @Reviewsbylola Oh it's this awesome indie film made on a shoestring budget 😉 6mo
rohit-sawant @swishandflick Haha, same! That's part of what made it so fulfilling for me. Can't really get into the details without spewing spoilers 😆 6mo

You #takethelongwayhome when you travel by horse and buggy, which is why Austen‘s novels always include months long visits with family and friends.

I‘d love to know what everyone‘s least favorite Austen is. Mine is S&S so it will be the next one of hers I reread I think. I‘m hoping it was just a timing issue and I love it the second time around.

#anglophileapril

vumblereads Hello 😃 what editions are these? 6mo
merelybookish Good question! It's been a while but when I was younger Northanger Abbey was my least favourite. But I might feel differently now. 6mo

emtobiasz My least favorite is Emma. Still have never made it all the way through... 6mo
vivastory I've only read Emma & Northanger Abbey. I loved them both, but actually liked Northanger a bit more. I'm definitely due for another. 6mo
batsy Didn't care much for S&S in the past but it's currently my fave 🙂 Least favourite is probably Mansfield Park, but it's a long time since I read it (long by my Austen reread standards 😆) so I might change my mind if I read it now... 6mo
Reviewsbylola They‘re Word Clouds. I think I bought them from Juniper Books but you can find them a lot of places. @vumblereads 6mo
Jas16 My least favorite by far is Mansfield Park. 6mo
cobwebmoth Emma is my least favorite. 6mo
EmilyM My least favorite is Northanger Abbey. 6mo
Palindrome Northanger Abbey is my least re-read, so I suppose that qualifies it as least favorite. Favorite has evolved over time: as years pass, increasingly drawn to Persuasion. 6mo
Daisey I‘ve yet to read Mansfield Park, but so far Emma is my least favorite. S & S was a struggle the first time several years ago, but I appreciated it so much more when I reread it last year. 6mo
TaciturnWhenReading Mansfield Park - Definitely my least favorite. 6mo
sammisho Poor Emma gets so much hate. When I did the Austen readalong last year, I was s surprised by that! My least favorite is S&S, I have only reread it twice, all the others several times. 6mo
emilyhaldi Lots of strong opinions here!! I haven‘t read S&S or Emma so I feel very out of the loop😆 But as you know, Mansfield Park was a bit tough for me 🤔 6mo
Slajaunie Never read Austen. 🙄 (edited) 6mo
Cinfhen I‘ve only read P&P and truthfully I enjoyed all the reimaginings more 😬🙄 like this one (edited) 6mo
BarbaraBB My least favorite was Emma which I read the most recently. S&S was the first I read (and loved) so it may be time for a reread. I just don‘t have the time 😂 6mo
ravenlee Emma, but I‘m due for a reread. It‘s the only one I had to read for a class, so that could have something to do with it. I haven‘t read Mansfield Park, but it‘s in my soon stack. 6mo
Mdargusch I‘m jealous of your book collection. 😻😻😻 6mo
DGRachel I have these editions! S&S is my least favorite, too. But I'm not real fond of Emma, either. 6mo

This book details Buck‘s true account of his choice to #takethelongwayhome by traveling all 2000 miles of the Oregon Trail the old fashioned way... by covered wagon pulled by mules 🏜

Reviewsbylola You inspired my post. 😆 6mo
Cinfhen I‘ve heard this book is really good!! Thoughts??? 6mo
BarbaraBB I must read this! I am going to drive a part of the Oregon trail myself this Summer. Thanks for bringing it up! 6mo

BarbaraBB @Mdargusch I think so. I‘ve been wanting this for a long time! 6mo
emilyhaldi I haven't read this @Cinfhen but I'm totally excited to after pulling it out again! @BarbaraBB SO COOL!! This sounds like a definite must-read before you go. 6mo

In this nonfiction account, two woman travel around the world in opposite directions to try and beat Julie Verne‘s Around the World in 80 Days. These woman were trailblazers in 1889, traveling alone and unaided as they captivated the attention of the country.

(Day 26 - #TakeTheLongWayHome)

*The title of this song made me think of Cameron‘s book (tagged)—I suppose I‘m always thinking about animals! Not sure why I do that 🐰🐇🐣😻🐶🐹🐻🐶🐱🐷🐨🐧! 😱
BUT! I don‘t think there was any other album that I played more than this one when it came out (and for years after that—I wore out the cassette in my car!). I loved Supertramp! (Guess I still do...)

Cinfhen Yup!!! One of the BEST albums EVER!!!! 🎶Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear?🎶
6mo
Mdargusch Such a great album! And those dog stories about finding their way home all kill me. 6mo
gradcat @Cinfhen Thanks so much for the musical memory!! @Mdargusch I know what you mean...plus they all make me think of Lassie! 🐶😂 Thanks for commenting, you two!! 🥰 6mo

gradcat @Reviewsbylola Not my dog, I‘m afraid. But I loved the photo! ❤️ 6mo
gradcat @emilyhaldi I love them both—cats & dogs—and now I want a bunny (that‘s just aspirational, by the way—it‘ll probably never happen!)...I love them! 🐰 ♥️ 🥰 6mo

Good old Inspector Gamache, The Long Way Home - Book 10 in the series.

Loved Supertramp, although The Logical Song or Breakfast in America were my favourites.

Reviewsbylola And still have never read this author. 🙈 Some day! 6mo
