When I think of journeys & home, my mind immediately goes to several books, one being The Lord of the Rings. "Short cuts make long delays."

The movie Batman & Robin was not so great. However, the songs in it by Smashing Pumpkins linked below remind me of the cyclical nature of life within tragedy and hope. They, of course, also speak to the Batman origin story.

You #takethelongwayhome when you travel by horse and buggy, which is why Austen‘s novels always include months long visits with family and friends.

I‘d love to know what everyone‘s least favorite Austen is. Mine is S&S so it will be the next one of hers I reread I think. I‘m hoping it was just a timing issue and I love it the second time around.

#anglophileapril

vumblereads Hello 😃 what editions are these? 5y
merelybookish Good question! It's been a while but when I was younger Northanger Abbey was my least favourite. But I might feel differently now. 5y

emtobiasz My least favorite is Emma. Still have never made it all the way through... 5y
vivastory I've only read Emma & Northanger Abbey. I loved them both, but actually liked Northanger a bit more. I'm definitely due for another. 5y
batsy Didn't care much for S&S in the past but it's currently my fave 🙂 Least favourite is probably Mansfield Park, but it's a long time since I read it (long by my Austen reread standards 😆) so I might change my mind if I read it now... 5y
Reviewsbylola They‘re Word Clouds. I think I bought them from Juniper Books but you can find them a lot of places. @vumblereads 5y
Jas16 My least favorite by far is Mansfield Park. 5y
cobwebmoth Emma is my least favorite. 5y
EmilyM My least favorite is Northanger Abbey. 5y
Palindrome Northanger Abbey is my least re-read, so I suppose that qualifies it as least favorite. Favorite has evolved over time: as years pass, increasingly drawn to Persuasion. 5y
Daisey I‘ve yet to read Mansfield Park, but so far Emma is my least favorite. S & S was a struggle the first time several years ago, but I appreciated it so much more when I reread it last year. 5y
TaciturnWhenReading Mansfield Park - Definitely my least favorite. 5y
sammisho Poor Emma gets so much hate. When I did the Austen readalong last year, I was s surprised by that! My least favorite is S&S, I have only reread it twice, all the others several times. 5y
emilyhaldi Lots of strong opinions here!! I haven‘t read S&S or Emma so I feel very out of the loop😆 But as you know, Mansfield Park was a bit tough for me 🤔 5y
Slajaunie Never read Austen. 🙄 (edited) 5y
Cinfhen I‘ve only read P&P and truthfully I enjoyed all the reimaginings more 😬🙄 like this one (edited) 5y
BarbaraBB My least favorite was Emma which I read the most recently. S&S was the first I read (and loved) so it may be time for a reread. I just don‘t have the time 😂 5y
ravenlee Emma, but I‘m due for a reread. It‘s the only one I had to read for a class, so that could have something to do with it. I haven‘t read Mansfield Park, but it‘s in my soon stack. 5y
Mdargusch I‘m jealous of your book collection. 😻😻😻 5y
DGRachel I have these editions! S&S is my least favorite, too. But I'm not real fond of Emma, either. 5y

This book details Buck‘s true account of his choice to #takethelongwayhome by traveling all 2000 miles of the Oregon Trail the old fashioned way... by covered wagon pulled by mules 🏜

BarbaraBB @Mdargusch I think so. I‘ve been wanting this for a long time! 5y

In this nonfiction account, two woman travel around the world in opposite directions to try and beat Julie Verne‘s Around the World in 80 Days. These woman were trailblazers in 1889, traveling alone and unaided as they captivated the attention of the country.

(Day 26 - #TakeTheLongWayHome)

*The title of this song made me think of Cameron‘s book (tagged)—I suppose I‘m always thinking about animals! Not sure why I do that 🐰🐇🐣😻🐶🐹🐻🐶🐱🐷🐨🐧! 😱
BUT! I don‘t think there was any other album that I played more than this one when it came out (and for years after that—I wore out the cassette in my car!). I loved Supertramp! (Guess I still do...)

Cinfhen Yup!!! One of the BEST albums EVER!!!! 🎶Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear?🎶
5y
Mdargusch Such a great album! And those dog stories about finding their way home all kill me. 5y
gradcat @Cinfhen Thanks so much for the musical memory!! @Mdargusch I know what you mean...plus they all make me think of Lassie! 🐶😂 Thanks for commenting, you two!! 🥰 5y

emilyhaldi A lot of Supertramp fans coming out of the woodwork today!!! ❤️ ps. I‘m always thinking about animals too... especially my cats 😉😽😸😼 5y
gradcat @Reviewsbylola Not my dog, I‘m afraid. But I loved the photo! ❤️ 5y
gradcat @emilyhaldi I love them both—cats & dogs—and now I want a bunny (that‘s just aspirational, by the way—it‘ll probably never happen!)...I love them! 🐰 ♥️ 🥰 5y

Good old Inspector Gamache, The Long Way Home - Book 10 in the series.
#TakeTheLongWayHome #AnglophileApril

Loved Supertramp, although The Logical Song or Breakfast in America were my favourites.

Reviewsbylola And still have never read this author. 🙈 Some day! 5y
