“The Glenan are not a real place at all, they are nothingness in the middle of the sea.”— words Dupin heard often about the Glenan.

This has a very Island of Dr Moreau vibe to it, but it has other twists and turns so don't think to skip this one because of that, because it's great.
Great afternoon read while stuck in a waiting room.

I do ❤ a well-crafted ambiguous ending.

#tallshipcelebration @CrowCAH I‘ve never read this series, but in book 1 the leads are stuck together because of a #hurricane. I like romances that take place in extraordinary circumstances.

AsYouWish I love this series!!! It is sooooo good!!!! I highly recommend it, if you like romance novels. 5y
CrowCAH That would create for some intimate moments! 5y

I really enjoyed this "we're snowed in in a cabin we're gonna fall in love" lesbian romance. It was sweet, cute and simple. When they went back to their lives I liked it less--that should have been the last 10% of the book instead of the last half. Also one of them has a horrifically creepy brother who spied on her having sex and she's fine with it? WTF! Also the use of the term "make love" instead of "have sex" makes me gag a little. #QueerBooks

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian The "make love" thing is one of a few minor indications that this is a romance about women in their late 20s / early 30s but written by someone in her 50s. Mostly this didn't bother me but an FYI! 5y

This is great so far! Can you believe it's only the second lesbian romance I've ever read? I can't believe it's available as an #audiobook through my library! #AwesomeAudiobooks #QueerBooks #Romantsy

ReadingEnvy I find that surprising! 5y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @ReadingEnvy I know right! But I am quite new as a romance reader in general. 5y
ReadingEnvy @CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I feel like it can be a challenge to find good romance, but I do occasionally find some I like! 5y
CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian @ReadingEnvy Yes, I've had similar experiences. And I think good queer ones are even harder to find! 5y

This story is about four hikers who climb a mountain and get stranded and they endure alot of trouble and they do whatever it takes to survive in the wilderness, the hikers who survive are forever changed,😕

This sounds dark, honest , and terrifying.
But I love survival books, stuff is so good!

*get in my brain🤓😁

Prairiegirl_reading @meghan2714 I enjoyed it. It was a quick read for me because I had to find out what happened. I read another by this author called the girls. It‘s completely different and is about conjoined twins. I liked that one a lot too. 6y

See comments for reviews of the specific stories.

esurient A Host of Leeches (James Alan Gardner). Mild pick. I've enjoyed Gardner's writing before, and I love his worldbuilding, but this was too ya-ish 'Defeat our foes with the power of moral friendship.' 6y
esurient For much of the story I had genuinely expected the symbiotic AI to be the story villain. And it seemed a big waste to draw zero parallels between the symbiotes and the alien parasites. 6y
esurient A Strand in the Web (Anne Bishop). Strong pick. Fun blurred line between the concept of environmentalism and the concept of religion. Excellent strong ending. Had to deliberately not think to hard about how the science of it all worked. 6y

esurient Stranded (Anthony Francis). Bail. I strongly disliked another book by this author, so my proportional dislike here may not be surprising. 6y
esurient Still. A couple chapters in, we have several scenes of male assault on captive females, stated threat to gang rape and/or breed, and some all-around hateful gender warefare. I get the impression they'll be spending the story joining into a cohesive whole, and I really just want their spaceship to explode. 6y

#pricedrop ! Why yes, I'll spend two bucks for an anthology that includes an Anne Bishop novella.
