Not my cup of tea but still a good story that asks some important questions about race and privilege.

#ReeseWitherspoon Book Club December 2019 pick

I hadn‘t heard of this book until until Reese Witherspoon picked it for her December book club. If you like this kind of crime/mystery, then I think you‘ll enjoy this one.

#ReeseWitherspoon Book Club November 2019 pick

Wow! I was very impressed with this book. I will admit that I only read it because of the “plagiarism“ accusation and because it was Reese‘s book club pick and I‘ve been reading all of those. This was such an interesting story about women in rural areas organizing a traveling library of sorts. I‘ve read articles about these small organizations but this is the first novel that I‘ve read about it. 5🌟

Hooked_on_books This book looks interesting to me, as I like historical fiction. But the fact that it‘s written by Jojo Moyes makes me pause, as her other books don‘t appeal to me. Do you think someone like me would enjoy this one? 3mo
suvata @Hooked_on_books I really can‘t answer that question because this is the first one of her books that I‘ve read. If her other books are up to this standard I will definitely be reading most of them. 3mo
Cinfhen Ha @Hooked_on_books I TOTALLY get your question!!! I‘m holding off for now as I don‘t think this will be my type of book in the end 😜 3mo

suvata @Hooked_on_books @Cinfhen If you ever do decide to read it, let me know what you think. I thought it was a great piece of historical fiction with just the right amount of action and romance. 3mo
Hooked_on_books I may get it from the library at some point and give it a try. We‘ll see. I‘ll let you know what I think if I do. 3mo
Cinfhen Will do @suvata keep me posted too @Hooked_on_books but so far, I‘ve only seen positive reviews 3mo
Lcsmcat Have you read The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek? If so, what is your opinion of the accusation of plagiarism? I‘ve not read either, so I‘m curious. 3mo
Bookishthoughts @Lcsmcat I was thinking about reading Troublesome creek instead because like @Hooked_on_books I am not a fan of Jojo Mayes. Glad you enjoyed this @suvata the story in it's self is really interesting. 3mo
suvata @Lcsmcat I plan on reading that soon so I can get a good comparison between the two. 3mo

Bailedbailed

#ReeseWitherspoon Book Club October 2019 pick

I listened to about 50% of this self-help audiobook and just couldn‘t take it any more. Too much anger and talk of “unicorn space”! It‘s actually quite sad that modern relationships have become so petty — couples trying to one-up each other.

Cathythoughts I think I‘d have bailed too .... “ unicorn space “ 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4mo
TrishB Doesn‘t sound like something I‘d read! 4mo

Freespirit I wondered what unicorn space is too @Stacypatrice 😬 (edited) 4mo
Erinreadsthebooks I was surprised by this pick 4mo
Amandajoy @Stacypatrice @Freespirit I was wondering that too. Sounds like it should have a lot of glitter. 4mo
suvata @Stacypatrice @Freespirit @Amandajoy According to the book, “Winning” this game means rebalancing your home life, reigniting your relationship with your significant other, and reclaiming your Unicorn Space — as in, the time to develop the skills and passions that keep you interested and interesting. 4mo
Stacypatrice @suvata - And I was thinking “unicorn space” would be more like “give me some personal time or I‘ll stab you with my horn!” 🤷🏻‍♀️ 4mo
suvata @Stacypatrice I like that better. LOL 4mo
Freespirit Ha ha..that‘s so funny @Stacypatrice 😂😂😂 4mo

Pretty good little thriller about a murder that takes place in an upscale vacation spot. I did like it but not as much as the other Miranda books that I‘ve read.

#ReeseWitherspoon Book Club May 2019 pick

I‘m not much of a “foodie” so all the talk about food was not very interesting to me. Still, I really enjoyed the story of the families and communities from different cultures with their various customs. All in all, a pretty good read.

Bonus: For those who are into it, there a lot of good sounding recipes at the end of the book.

I do love a story that includes Asian folklore like that of the spirit tiger which this book revolves around. It‘s actually a pretty good love story as well.
