The Far Country | Nevil Shute

In this book, it‘s not #londoncalling to the main characters; it‘s 1950s Australia, where in many cases, #thestreetshavenoname and may be a #roadtonowhere #wanderingjune

Melissa_J Well played! 2mo

Cinfhen We visited the Churchill War Rooms on our recent trip to London so I can perfectly visualize where the secretary sat. It was really cool to see the big world maps pinned up on the walls and all the little pushpins marking their path. 2mo
BarbaraBB Lots of London Calling in that one probably! 2mo
DivineDiana @Cinfhen How fantastic! ❤️ (edited) 2mo

I‘ve barely been home from vacation for two weeks, and I‘m already looking at planes and trains for #readingretreat2020 (no automobiles because I‘m not crazy enough to try driving on the wrong side of the road). Maybe I‘ll get back to Heathrow and have another giant cup of tea. #londoncalling #wanderingjune

BarbaraBB I know the feeling... I always need to know when my next #readingretreat (love the #) will be ✈️🚂 2mo

There is no #RoadToNowhere when #LondonCalling

In other words, if its set in London, it automatically goes onto my TBR. 😀

Crazeedi Ooooo, and its first of a series!!!! This is a stack!! 2mo

Clash's London Calling | Tommy Tompkins

The Clash's best album, IMHO, and probably one of the best albums of the 70's. Their later album, Combat Rock, is probably better know since it contained hits like Should I Stay or Should I Go and Rock The Casbah. I like London Calling better, more raw energy and a total new sound.

#WanderingJune #LondonCalling @Cinfhen @BarbaraBB

Cinfhen I remember purchasing Combat Rock from the local indie record store and not buying from the massive Sam Goody or Tower Records that flanked the mall. 2mo
RamsFan1963 @Cinfhen I purchased London Calling at the Record Bar in my local mall. Sadly, we had no indie stores in my rural area. Combat Rock I found, I'm sure they got it by mistake, at Hills dept store, surrounded by things like Duran Duran, The Go-Gos and Michael Jackson. 2mo
Cinfhen Ha!!! But ain‘t nothing wrong with Duran Duran, The Go-Gos or MJ 🙌🏻❣️ 2mo
RamsFan1963 @Cinfhen Nope they're fine, just more mainstream than The Clash, at least in my area 2mo
BarbaraBB I discovered London Calling much later than Combat Rock ☺️😀 2mo

I think I need to read this book.

Cinfhen Not a Gaiman fan but I‘ve seen lots of love for this book on Litsy 2mo
Kathrin I enjoyed this a lot. There is a BBC audio play version available on Audible, which I think is better than the book. 😬😬😬 2mo
kalinichta I stopped reading Gaiman a little while ago (his stories just don't seem to click for me anymore), but Neverwhere is one of my absolute favorites of his and the one I'd always recommend to people who hadn't read him before. 2mo

ta_hernandez5 This is probably my favorite Neil Gaiman book (of what I've read so far, at least). I definitely need to check out the BBC audio play version someday. 2mo
Chrissyreadit @Kathrin that may be just what I need tomorrow when I‘m driving to my intensive for school. Thanks! 2mo
Bradleygirl Oh definitely the best Gaiman. The audio w James McAvoy is amaaaaze also 💯 2mo
