Mehso-so

Reed and the young man he has taken under his wing discover a murderous unit in the NOPD and immediately find themselves in trouble. Reed holds the mayor & police chief hostage to release Holly from jail and it seems to go downhill from there. Sometimes erotic, sometimes drags.

Okay last one! This is a beach we went to on our trip to California in the before-times. Those are sea lions laying on the sand. I want to go back...or anywhere! #LITSYSPRINGBREAK #1

Mehso-so

This was a reread, and I felt fairly meh about it. My biggest issue is that the female protagonist, despite being a hostage negotiator, didn't seem to have much agency.

Day 25 - #superstition #octoberxfiles

The superstitious practice of placing a rusty nail through a lemon is to ward off the evil eye.

TheBookAddict Never heard of that one. Growing up I remember people making sure that infants and toddlers had a red beaded bracelet to ward off the “evil eye.” Maybe that‘s just part of Mexican superstition. I still see those bracelets on children once in a while, but it‘s not as common anymore. 6y
EadieB @TheBookAddict I‘m sure there are probably a dozen different superstitions for the same thing. 6y
TheBookAddict @EadieB yep, it‘s quite interesting to read about those kinds of things. 6y

Day 23 - #superstition #blackcatchallenge

The word superstition is often used to refer to a religion not practiced by the majority of a given society regardless of whether the prevailing religion contains alleged superstitions. It is also commonly applied to beliefs and practices surrounding luck, prophecy, and certain spiritual beings, particularly the belief that future events can be foretold by specific (apparently) unrelated prior events.
