I was able to finish this book at an appointment this morning and it was an enjoyable book from beginning to end. In this book we discover the tragic backgrounds of the characters but we also get to watch them come to terms with their lives and heal. The descriptive writing allows for the characters and story to intertwine with the setting and it is just marvelous.

Was able to finish reading The Midnight Side this weekend and I found this book to be just ok. It wasn't a badly written book and the book moved along at a decent pace - I just wasn't able to connect with the characters and the book wasn't as suspenseful as one would have hoped for. However, I did enjoy the paranormal aspects of the book.

This book is beautifully written and it deals with many complex political and social issues within India. On the other hand, I felt as though there were too many characters to keep track of and I would have preferred a more focused story. I can see how others could rate this book highly but I rated it 3 stars. It wasn't a book that I could take time away from as I was lost every time I picked it back up.

This was such an enjoyable read, surprisingly cute and heartfelt but with typically eerie Junji Ito drawings. The bonus manga at the end broke my heart though 💔 #junjiito #justfinished #manga #cats #catsoflitsy #review

I can honestly say that to begin with I really struggled with this. Once I got past the half way mark it was a whole different ball game! I started to enjoy it a lot more. There are a lot of characters and multi faceted stories all intertwined so at times it is hard to keep up if not focused. All in all it turned out to be an enjoyable read and I am definitely pleased I saw this through to the end. #onceuponariver #justfinished #threestars

A heartbreaking autobiography fictional book that will make you cry and feel anger that we could treat each other as such. There is also happiness that others can come together even in the hardest of times. I learned a lot about the Cambodian revolution (something on which I didn't know much). Beautifully written from the eyes of a child - this read will get you right in the heart.

The Day We Disappeared was the perfect summer read. Annie and Kate are trying to find themselves after the past they've experienced. It was an easy read and didn't take much time to get through. I felt like it was just going to be a simple easy read for the majority of the book and was starting to wonder if there was a point - but the ending is quite good and is what sold the book for me.
