I am so using this for my #girlsinscience. Steampunk is loaded with the science of engineering. Plus are girls are training to be spies and assassins so they learn the chemistry of poisons. #backtoreading

jpmcwisemorgan A great choice!!! 7y
LibrarianRyan @jpmcwisemorgan thanks. I could not think of any other title that I knew had scientific stuff in it. 🤓👍🏻 7y

This is very tense. #currentread #preview #yalit #virtualreality #marielu #warcross I just edited this picture because a) it was too fuzzy for my liking (hope this is clearer), and b) it matches the #backtoreading prompt for #dayseven in a true, if somewhat unconventional way. In 🇦🇺 they keep talking about the need to encourage girls into STEM subjects. This book might be just the thing. Emika is a brilliant mathematician and a coding whiz...

Missusb More tags #anditsaugust #girlsinscience Also STEM is Science Technology Engineering Maths just FYI (edited) 7y

My favorite science books are about botany. These are some of my favorite books that feature female scientists/doctors and botany.:
The Signature of All Things
God is an Astronaut
State of Wonder
Ship Fever

Caryl Have you read Lab Girl? I bet you'd like it. 7y
VioletBramble @Caryl I just bought it. It's in my 2018 TBR pile. 7y
Caryl Awesome! (Do you plan your reading that far ahead?) 7y

VioletBramble @Caryl Yes. I've been participating in the Category Challenge at Library Thing since 2011. I plan my yearly theme, categories and 75% of the books I want for those categories years in advance. The other 25% is unplanned/ spontaneous reading. I'm a big planner and list maker. 7y
Caryl I love planning/list-making, too. ❤️ This sounds really neat! I like that you leave some room for spontaneity, too. Thank you for sharing! 7y
rwmg 😮 Wow, you ARE organised. I only plan for the next month and even so feel free to abandon the plan. 7y

I'm very excited to get started on this one. It covers #girlsinscience and it will (I hope) make me #think.

Cinfhen I've heard so many good things about this book! I #think you've made a good decision 💚I'm looking forward to reading your review ☺️ 7y
gossamerchild @Cinfhen have you read this book? It touches on this topic a little bit, but covers poison in a broader sense as well. 7y
Cinfhen Nope, but just added it #stacked thanks 🤓 7y

I really loved this book and I loved the movie even more! These women who helped the US win WWII, and land on the moon 🌙 were so remarkable! Their genius and struggle in the face of bigotry fills me with such gratitude for all they did to make the world better! #girlsinscience #backtoreading #itshistory #anditsaugust

Laura317 It was such an inspiring movie! 7y

I loved Rad American Women; this one is just as rad. 40 women from 30 countries, with a list of 250 more to explore when you're through. This is Hypatia, "the first known female mathematician and scientist." #girlsinscience #backtoreading

I hate to say it but I don't have any books about women in science 🙊. In looking up books on this however, I have come across quite a lot and plan to rectify this issue! #backtoreading #girlsinscience

A couple of Rachel Carsen picks (and of course the lovely lady Goodall) for #backtoreading day 7- #girlsinscience If you've never read The Edge of the Sea definitely check it out if you like science books! It is such a beautiful, mesmerizing book.

JoeStalksBeck Ohhh Jane Goodall❤️ 7y
rockpools TEOTS is just wonderful ! Silent Spring has been on my tbr forever though - one day. Soon. 7y
Kamisha @RachelO haha, it's good! Definitely different from TEOTS though it's not quite as mesmerizing, but still a pivotal book! 7y
