A recipient of the Sunshine State Young Readers award, Wonder is written by R.J. Palacio. A RF about 10 year-old Auggie, who lives in Manhattan. He was born with facial deformity and is starting to attend school. The book take on view points from different characters and could be used for a LC. #ucflae3414su19
365 Days of Wonder: Mr.Browne‘s Book of Precepts written by R.J. Palacio is a fiction book that has inspiring quotes for every day of the year. The quotes range from history, love, friendship, courage, and kindness. This would be a fun thing to do with the class as a bell ringer. We could start the morning by reading a quote and then writing about it or the teacher can simply ask comprehension questions about it. #ucflae3414su19
"Choose Kind” is not just a saying, it is a way of life. A amazing and tear jerking F novel by R.J. Palacio that reaches beyond the words on pages an into the heart of the readers. While reading this book, I cried three times and I just want to read it again! I have nothing but praise for little Auggie.

This emotional RF book by R.J. Palacio is great to use for a LC or even a RA throughout the semester/unit. I think it‘s important for children to embark on the journey Auggie takes us, and see that it‘s not what‘s on the outside that counts, but what‘s on the inside. We don‘t need to judge a book on its cover, but by the contents. Auggie sees the world in a better way than most of us do, and his story proves it. #UCFLAE3414SuB18
“When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
Re-reading this gem for book club and I‘ve already fallen back in love with this story. I hope this becomes required middle school reading, someday. 💕

RF. LC. This New York Times best seller will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions. It follows the life of Auggie Pullman, a little boy who has a medical condition that has left him with a severe facial "deformity." This book has quickly become a favorite of mine and I would recommend it to every teacher to help tackle bullying in their classroom. #choosekind UDL 8.4 Increase mastery-oriented feedback. #UCFLAE3414SP18
Wonder is a Realistic fiction (RF) novel about a boy named August who was born with Treacher Collins Syndrome. The books takes you through August Pullman‘s life as the new kid in 5th grade. I think all students and teachers should read this book, it has an amazing message about kindness that everyone can learn from. Choosing kindness makes a huge difference. I've been reading Wonder to my kids.
We've had to put reading on hold (We had borrowed a digital copy from the library and it had expired) The wait list to borrow it again is extremely long and I think in going to have to source the book elsewhere so we can finish reading about August.
Hate the wait list!
