I don't have to wait for my future self. My present self is proud of me for overcoming my introvertedness and social anxiety to work with folks on community action and mutual aid in my community.

I considered myself well versed but golly this author gave me so much more to think about! Should be required reading for all humans.

“I've been keeping informal track of ‘homie-propisms‘ at all the detention facilities where I celebrate the Eucharist. These are the moments when the homies get up to read and they'll come to an unfamiliar word and will supplant it with one they know rather than what it should be. Sometimes, it's the usual slipup. ‘A reading from the letter of Paul to the Phillipinos.‘ They don't know what a Gentile is… ⤵️

BarbaraJean (Cont‘d) …but have a passing familiarity with ‘Genitals.‘ (Try this one yourself—go to the Acts of the Apostles and substitute ‘genitals‘ wherever you find ‘Gentiles.‘ It livens up this book as never before.)” 1mo

“We are bodies of broken bones. I guess I‘d always known but never fully considered that being broken is what makes us human. We all have our reasons. Sometimes we‘re fractured by the choices we make; sometimes we‘re shattered by things we would never have chosen. But our brokenness is also the source of our common humanity, the basis for our shared search for comfort, meaning, and healing.”

Unapologetic reminded me that Black queer women are the blueprint. I felt seen, held, and called to action. This book isn‘t just theory—it‘s a lived mandate for liberation, organizing, and reimagining our future. Tender, powerful, and necessary. I took my time with it, and it was worth every page.

The information is organized in a logical way. It lacks the inspirational tone I expected. It feels more like a check list.

Suet624 That‘s too bad. 3mo

I enjoyed reading Zetta‘s poems. She uses a variety of forms which makes this a highly dynamic read, and her work does an excellent job of driving home her point. These poems will catch your attention. The illustrations throughout were a nice touch. #Poetry

This book blew me away. It was so sad to read how we at times violate the rights of others - I know I work in this field and its hard sometimes to navigate through the ethical delemas we go through.
