The Broken Girls | Simone St James
post image

I found this audiobook on Scribd! So far the narrator and story are good. It‘s been on my shelf (#BOTM selection) for months also. The love it‘s getting from Littens is motivating me. Plus it works for either #scaryread or #setinschool (I need both!) for #booked2018.

#Onewayoranother Wraith and Manx are gonna getcha, getcha, getcha ... even if they have to chase you all the way to Christmasland.

One of the creepiest horror books I‘ve ever read. Compulsively readable and excellent.

BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen I suppose you could do that. But it‘s really better for #scaryread! (edited) 1y
Cinfhen I‘m using this one for #scaryread 1y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Cinfhen Another good option! 1y

Stalking Jack the Ripper | Kerri Maniscalco

It's been a rough few weeks personal life-wise, so I'm taking today to relax and participate in the #ripxii challenge. #scaryread #scarymovie

Oh I loved this novella. It was an unexpected chilling treat after reading a much sweeter story from @BeckyWrightAuthor A fabulous tale based in history and present day. A witchy tale of past wrongs coming back to haunt the present. I read it in the middle of the night from beginning to end which added to the scare but also left me rather suspicious of my wardrobe! #mustread #scaryread #novella #fantasy #darkfantasy

BeckyWrightAuthor Wonderful review lovely @GRThomas2014 thank you so much 😍💕 3y

Great passage I read this morning on the bus in MZD's tome, "...Or maybe even the words in the book have been area and in such a way as to make them practically impossible to read." This coming from a book whose pages can sometimes resemble the picture here! #mzd #houseofleaves #morningcommute #scaryread #readharder

DebinHawaii This seems like such a unique book! 3y
Scerakor It is definitely creative. There are several points of view throughout the work and sometimes the footnotes have you jumping all around the book! The story is creepy too. Definitely recommended so far. 3y

If you want a truly creepy, dark, "what in the world did I just read," give you nightmares book this is it. A witch is haunting a town, but get this...her eyes and mouth are sewn shut. If that doesn't creep you out then I don't know what will. Perfect read for this time of year too. It takes place mostly in November and December. Read the afterward after!!!! #horror #witchywoman #witches #scaryread #bookrecommendation #scarybook

BookishFeminist I can't wait to read this. Love #WitchLit. 🎃 3y
Ashley_Nicoletto I must read this! 3y

For #AllHallowsRead, my current favorite #ScaryRead is the short story "Hungry Daughters of Starving Mothers" by Alyssa Wong which, as a matter of fact, just won the World Fantasy Award this weekend! Making Alyssa the first ever Filipina to win a WFA!! This story has great prose and plenty of creep. I hear that @Kat_Howard is kinda into #shortfiction as well...
(This story actually appears in Issue 37 but that wasn't @Litsy -ed...)

The Dead Zone | Stephen King

So it's the end of both October and #allhallowsread! This was my fave #scaryread (pre-Litsy) from this year thus far. Actually a re-read. Johnny is clairvoyant but ends up in a coma for several years. This passage, when he wakes up, is one of my faves from the book. Politics is always crazy! Also crazy is the politician with potential to put America in danger. Sounds familiar? And can Johnny stop him?

ValerieAndBooks I'm sorry if it's hard to read! Basically he's shocked that Nixon (who was still president when he went into coma) had resigned and that, instead of Agnew, Jerry Ford is now the current president. 3y
Jaywigley This is the only Stephen King book I've ever actually enjoyed! I did read two others but only this one could I recommend. 3y
ValerieAndBooks @Jaywigley I read quite a few of his when I was younger but at some point decided he was too scary! But hung on to this one and re-read it a couple times. I did recently read 11/22/63 because I was intrigued by the time travel angle, and enjoyed it. 3y
