#Nonfiction2020
review
Singout
Mehso-so

This was intriguing: the intersection of a mass murder with the life and work of Harper Lee and her relationship with Truman Capote. It didn‘t completely hold together, or directly address racism issues as much as I wanted, but gave me insights into two significant writers as well as Alabama culture. It was going to be my #Nonfiction2020 “Law” prompt but I‘ll make it my free space for #Nonfiction2021: it doesn‘t fit any of the other categories!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That works! Sorry it wasn‘t exactly what you were looking for, their relationship was fascinating. 2y
Singout Yes! I just felt it came apart in the last few chapters--maybe bc it fell apart for Lee. I want to learn more about Capote now--all I've read is the powerful Christmas Memory story.

#Nonfiction2020 is the only challenge I do, and I‘m super excited that I read 20 out of 25 categories this year. I can‘t wait to get started on this year‘s nonfiction challenge. 📚📚📚📚 Thanks to @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for organizing it!

Riveted_Reader_Melissa You are so welcome! It was a hard group last year and 2020 become such a serious year that it didn‘t always help with motivation. You did great, bingo more than once, and hopefully read some things you enjoyed. Go you, and goodbye 2020, hello 2021! 2y
CoffeeK8 @Riveted_Reader_Melissa thank you, and I agreed! Goodbye 2020, hello 2021! 2y

I'm still shocked at my totals this year. It was a rough year in most aspects, but it ended up being a great reading year for me.

I finished #Nonfiction2020, #ReadingEurope2020, and #ReadHarder. I also loved being a part of #Bookspin, #DoubleSpin, and #BookSpinBingo since February. #Scarathlon2020 and #Screamathon made October one of my favorite reading months too.

Thank you to everyone who hosts events. You helped make my year brighter. 💚

Megabooks Great job!! 📚🎉 2y

2020 is a wrap...and I‘m very pleased with my challenges this year. I managed to finish my #MountTBR, #LitsyAtoZ, #Book2020, and #Nonfiction2020, being home a lot with the library closed seemed to help. 🤷‍♀️

I did it! A few weeks ago I thought I wouldn‘t be able to finish my #Nonfiction2020 card this year but I did it. So many of these could have counted for other prompts and some are a bit of a stretch but all were worth it. A lot of these were among my top reads of the year. I love nonfiction so I am glad to have something that keeps me reading. Thanks @Riveted_Reader_Melissa for putting it together. #Nonfiction2020

Riveted_Reader_Melissa You are so very welcome! And great job!!! Lots of good books there! 2y

A Promised Land | Barack Obama

Pickpick

It‘s rare that I listen to the 🎧 📖 while reading the physical book. But I wouldn‘t have read A Promised Land any other way! I needed the physical book to help me fully focus, and listening to Obama‘s voice felt like I was “in the room where it happened”. ☺️

I can‘t wait for Volume 2! (Hopefully it won‘t take another 4 years)

This fills a lot of remaining empty slots for #nonfiction2020, although I don‘t usually count a book multiple times.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa I usually don‘t in the same challenge either....and many MANY of these hit crossover topics. It‘s all interrelated! 2y

I‘m on vacation so I‘m optimistic that I can fill the last two spots on my #Nonfiction2020 bingo card! The Alex Trebek book for education is a little bit of a stretch but I think Jeopardy has taught us a lot! And Compton Cowboys isn‘t about guns but the horse farm is seen as an alternative to violence so I think it counts. I‘m going to count President Obama‘s memoir for infrastructure and I‘m reading Lights Out by Ted Koppel for Cybersecurity.

Riveted_Reader_Melissa That all works for me! You fill them the way you want! Lights Out has been on my list for awhile, let me know how you like it, if you get to it! Great job too, even if you just relax the rest of this year, just enjoy this great accomplishment! 2y
